On sequences of positive integers
Acta Arithmetica, 1936Sind \(a_1,...,a_n\) verschiedene natürliche Zahlen und ist \(\{b_i\}\) die Folge der natürlichen Zahlen, welche durch irgendein \(a_i\) teilbar ist, so existiert die natürliche Dichte \(A(a_1,...,a_m)\) der Folge \(\{b_i\}\). Ist nun \(\{a_i\}\) eine unendliche Folge (in wachsender Ordnung) von natürlichen Zahlen, so existiert \(\lim_{m \to \infty} A ...

Maximum Length of Robust Positioning Sequences
2020 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT), 2020An (n,d)-robust positioning sequence (RPS) is a binary sequence where every pair of length-n subwords is distance d apart. In this paper, we study the quantity P(n,d), which denotes maximum length of an (n,d)-RPS, and provide tight estimates in the range n/2 < d ≤ n.

A state-space approach to positive sequences
ICASSP '87. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005The problem considered in this paper is the following: given a symmetric sequence {r_{j}} which is not positive, (i.e. its Fourier transform takes on negative values), find a positive sequence {\bar{r}_{j}} which is a good approximation to {r_{j}} . This problem arises, for example, when {r_{j}} is an estimated covariance sequence which is not positive,

Sequence-directed Mapping of Nucleosome Positions
Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 2007A nucleosome DNA sequence probe is designed that combines recently derived RR/YY counter-phase and AA/TT in-phase periodical patterns. A simple nucleosome mapping procedure is introduced for prediction of the nucleosome positions in the sequence of interest, to serve as a guide for experimental studies of the chromatin structure.

Translates of Sequences in Sets of Positive Measure
Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, 1978Given a measurable set A of real numbers with measure mA > 0, and a sequence {dn} of real numbers converging to zero, is there always an x such that x + dn ∈ A for all n sufficiently large? The answer to this question, which was posed to the authors by P. Erdös, is NO.

Sequences with positive semidefinite Fourier transforms
IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1986A sequence is said to be positive if its Fourier transform exclusively takes on real nonnegative values as a function of frequency. Positive sequences play a prominent role in contemporary signal processing and system theory. To illustrate this point, it is well known that the factorization theorem is extensively used in studies related to wide-sense ...

This book seeks to contribute to the field of critical leadership studies by invoking paradox as an intervention in the constitutive politics of school principals. It proposes that, in neoliberal times, the subjectivity of principals is better understood in its paradoxy than in the austere and essentialist accounts of school leadership that currently ...

Sequence Determinants For The Positional Specificity Of Lipoxygenases
2002Lipoxygenases (LOXs) constitute a heterogeneous family of lipid peroxidizing enzymes, which catalyze the dioxygenation of free and/or esterified polyunsaturated fatty acids. In mammals the various LOX isoforms are categorized with respect to their positional specificity of arachidonic acid oxygenation into 5-, 8-, 12- and 15-LOXs (Brash, 1999; Kuhn and

On extending backwards positive definite sequences
Numerical Algorithms, 1992The two-sided Hamburger moment problem, also called the strong one, has been extensively studied in recent years in connecton with rational approximation. Here the author considers the question of when a sequence, say \(\{a_ n\}^ \infty_{n=0}\) can be extended backwards so that the resulting sequence \(\{a_ n\}^ \infty_{n=-N}\) has an integral ...
