Detection rate for ESR1 mutations is higher in circulating‐tumor‐cell‐derived genomic DNA than in paired plasma cell‐free DNA samples as revealed by ddPCR

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of ESR1 mutations in plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) is highly important for the selection of treatment in patients with breast cancer. Using multiplex‐ddPCR and identical blood draws, we investigated whether circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and cfDNA provide similar or complementary information for ESR1 mutations.

Positive solutions of a three-point boundary-value problem for differential equations with damping and actively bounded delayed forcing term

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2006
We provide sufficient conditions for the existence of positive solutions of a three-point boundary value problem concerning a second order delay differential equation with damping and forcing term whose the delayed part is an actively bounded ...

Targeted metabolomics reveals novel diagnostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed targeted metabolomic profiling to identify 302 distinct metabolites present in platelet‐rich plasma (PRP), revealing aberrant metabolic profiles amongst individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC). Compared to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 19‐9 (CA199), our metabolite panel showed improved sensitivity ...

Long-term behavior of a cyclic max-type system of difference equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2015
We study the long-term behavior of positive solutions of the cyclic system of difference equations $$ x^{(i)}_{n+1}=\max\Big\{\alpha,\frac{(x^{(i+1)}_n)^p}{(x^{(i+2)}_{n-1})^q}\Big\}, \quad i=1,\ldots,k,\; n\in\mathbb{N}_0, $$ where $k\in\mathbb{N}$

Inhibition of acyl‐CoA synthetase long‐chain isozymes decreases multiple myeloma cell proliferation and causes mitochondrial dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Triacsin C inhibition of the acyl‐CoA synthetase long chain (ACSL) family decreases multiple myeloma cell survival, proliferation, mitochondrial respiration, and membrane potential. Made with Biorender.com. Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable cancer of plasma cells with a 5‐year survival rate of 59%.

Three-point third-order problems with a sign-changing nonlinear term

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2014
In this article we study a well-known boundary value problem $$\displaylines{ u'''(t) = f(t, u(t)), \quad 0 < t < 1, \cr u(0) = u'(1/2) = u''(1)=0.
