POSITION/TORQUE CONTROL OF A SPACE ROBOTICS ARM
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006Abstract Torque sensors are used in space robot joints to increase robot capabilities and operational flexibility. Cascaded to a load position loop, a torque loop increases the performance of a position servo facing large variations of load inertia, typical of space robot arms.

Influence of Position on Knee Flexor Peak Torque
Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy, 1988The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of position on knee flexor peak torque production. Gravity effect torque and knee flexor peak torque were measured in both supine and prone positions for 20 male and female volunteers between the ages of 22 and 35 years with no history of left lower extremity pathology.

Torque-position transformer for task control of position controlled robots
2008 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2008Joint position control is a dominant paradigm in industrial robots. While it has been successful in various industrial tasks, joint position control is severely limited in performing advanced robotic tasks, especially in unstructured dynamic environments.

Position sensorless BDCM control with repetitive position-dependent load torque
2010 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics, 2010This paper addresses the position sensorless control for brushless DC motor (BDCM) with repetitive position-dependent load torque which is a function of the absolute rotor position (not incremental rotor position). The robust sensorless control is composed of sensorless control and robust speed control.

Air torque position damper energy consumption analysis
Energy and Buildings, 2015Abstract The damper used for the control of airflow in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems can constructively be adapted to measure the air velocity with its moment characteristic. It is a device that indirectly determines the air velocity by measuring the position of the blades and the air stream moment acting on it.

TCP position tolerances in joint torque minimizations
Proceedings. 1998 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems. Innovations in Theory, Practice and Applications (Cat. No.98CH36190), 2002A new algorithm for link and path optimizations of manipulator arms is formulated. The algorithm considers precision in tool center point (TCP) positioning. A penalizing function is introduced to allow divergence from the desired TCP locations. The ever increasing operational demands of robots presuppose high power drives which tends to adversely ...

The contribution of gravitational torques to limb position sense
Experimental Brain Research, 1985An experiment is reported which examined whether gravitational torque acting about a joint is used by the CNS in elbow joint angle matching. Subjects were required to match the joint angles of their two limbs while the external torques acting about each elbow were systematically varied. It was found that when the matching limb was differentially loaded,

Position Sensorless Direct Torque Control of SR Motors
2006 12th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, 2006Switched Reluctance motors (SR motors) have several desirable features, including simple construction, high reliability and low cost. But large torque ripple and expensive position sensors used in SR motor drive systems are considered as drawbacks for wide application. Several studies have succeeded in torque ripple reduction for SR motors using Direct

Position sensorless direct torque control of BLDC motor
2008 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2008Direct torque control (DTC) can directly control the inverter states in order to reduce the torque error within the prefixed band limit. DTC of brushless dc drive with trapezoidal back-EMF is presented in this paper. Using the rotor flux vector position in alpha-beta axis stationary reference frame and torque error, the proper switching pattern can be ...

An Accurate Torque-based Engine Control by Learning Correlation between Torque and Throttle Position
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2008<div class="htmlview paragraph">In recent years, integrated vehicle control systems have been developed to improve fuel economy and safety. As a result, engine control is shifting to torque-based systems for throttle / fuel / ignition control, to realize an engine torque demand from the system.
