The Meaning and Possibilities of "Formgeschichte"
The Journal of Religion, 1928HE TERM Formgeschichte as applied to the New Testament has been in use for only a few years. Martin Dibelius' is responsible for originating the term; Erich Fascher2 has sketched its history; and I myself have attempted its critical evaluation.3 At present I shall endeavor to show what it aims to accomplish and to estimate its possibilities.

Meaning, Modality, and Possible Worlds Semantics
2010This chapter begins with a discussion of Kripke-style possible worlds semantics. It considers one of the most important applications of possible worlds semantics, the account of counterfactual conditionals given in Robert Stalnaker and David Lewis. It then goes on to examine the work of Richard Montague. Montague specified syntactic rules that generate

Possible Meanings of the Four Lines
2012The initial purpose of the formalization of the SINC© square is to structure the four basic lines which have just been introduced and to assert their analytical exhaustiveness. It serves primarily as the initial phase of the development of the meanings and sensitive implications carried by each of the lines in comparison with the other three.

The occurrence and possible meaning of the ‘nimbus’
Symposium - International Astronomical Union, 1968There are few observations of cases in which a nimbus has developed around a solar flare of major importance. Speculations have been made about the nature of this obscuring cloud. We shall give here some consequences of the assumption that we have to do with scattering by a cloud of electrons, ejected together with the protons during the formation of ...

Possible physical meaning of the Tsallis entropy parameter
Physical Review E, 2001Since the proposal of the Tsallis generalized entropy, the general explanation of the role played by the parameter q that defines which specific entropy to pick among a whole family, remained somewhat partial and tentative, although some particular examples were taken into account specifically.

A Note on the Empirical Meaning of "Possible"
Analysis, 1936N his book Language, Truth and Logic, Mr. Ayer states that " there is no contradiction involved in asserting the existence of a material thing which is never actually perceived" (224), since material things are logical constructions not only of actual sense-contents but also of possible sense-contents. (" x" is a logical construction of a, b, etc. when
