Obese patients: Respiratory complications in the post-anesthesia care unit

open access: yesRevista Portuguesa de Pneumologia (English Edition), 2014
Obesity has been associated with respiratory complications, and the majority of these complications occur in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome and incidence of adverse respiratory events (AREs) in obese patients during their stay in the PACU METHODS: We conducted a prospective control study that ...

Model‐Driven Optimization of Subcutaneous Polymer Prodrugs Achieves Cancer Remission in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) model was developed to evaluate multiple dosing regimens for subcutaneously administered water‐soluble polymer prodrug for cancer therapy. The model enabled prediction of in vivo performance and contributed to the optimization of anticancer efficacy.

Engineering Resatorvid‐Loaded Sub‐Microgels of Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate/Hyaluronic Acid to Treat Acute Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents HAEP@Res sub‐microgels as a lung‐targeted delivery system integrating antioxidant activity with anti‐inflammatory therapy. The sub‐microgels demonstrate excellent biocompatibility, efficiently scavenge intracellular ROS, and downregulate pro‐inflammatory cytokines and genes in a Bleo‐induced ALI mouse model. These findings highlight

3D Soft Hydrogels Induce Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells “Deep” Quiescence

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional soft hydrogels mimicking the bone marrow niche induce deep quiescence in human mesenchymal stem cells. Unlike 2D culture, 3D matrices halt proliferation, regulate cell‐cycle and quiescence markers, and downregulate mTORC1 signaling, preserving stem cell phenotype and therapeutic potential ex vivo.
