Post‐Buckling Behavior

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1983
A survey of post‐buckling behavior of structures is presented. Using simple models, the basic characteristics of the buckling and post‐buckling process are outlined. Included are discussions of stable and unstable post‐buckling behavior and of the role of imperfections in stability behavior.

Nonlinear thermomechanical buckling and post-buckling response of porous FGM plates using Reddy's HSDT

Aerospace Science and Technology, 2018
This work presents an analytical approach to investigate buckling and post-buckling behavior of FGM plate with porosities resting on elastic foundations and subjected to mechanical, thermal and thermomechanical loads.

Post-Buckling Behaviour of Rectangular Orthotropic Plates

Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 1973
An analysis is presented for the post-buckling behaviour of a simply supported, rectangular, orthotropic plate subjected to biaxial compression. The solution of von Karman-type large deflection equations of the plate satisfying the prescribed boundary conditions is expressed in the form of a double Fourier series for the transverse deflection and a ...

Harnessing inclusions to tune post-buckling deformation and bandgaps of soft porous periodic structures

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2019
The emergence of phononic crystals paves a new way for manipulating elastic waves in structures for their particular bandgap properties. In this paper, the two-dimensional soft porous periodic structures that can be filled with hard inclusions are ...

Thermal post-buckling of sandwich beams with functionally graded negative Poisson's ratio honeycomb core

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 2019
This paper investigates the thermal post-buckling behavior of sandwich beams with functionally graded (FG) negative Poisson's ratio (NPR) honeycomb cores.

Post-Buckling of Functionally Graded Cylindrical Shells

Volume 1: Advances in Aerospace Technology, 2007
In this study, the post-buckling analysis of functionally graded cylindrical shells was carried out using the non-linear finite element method. The longitudinal shell edges were hinged under a central transverse concentrated load. The shells were composed of ceramic (Al2O3) and metal (Ni) phases and the mechanical properties at the region between the ...

Large-deflection and post-buckling analyses of isotropic rectangular plates by Carrera Unified Formulation

International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, 2019
Accurate predictions of the in-service nonlinear response of highly flexible structures in the geometrically nonlinear regime are of paramount importance for their design and failure evaluation.

On buckling and post-buckling of rotating clamped-clamped functionally graded beams in thermal environment

Mechanics based design of structures and machines, 2020
One of the most important engineers’ considerations is their concern about structural stability. This article copes with buckling and post-buckling examinations of rotating clamped-clamped functionally graded beams due to interaction between thermal ...

Finite element post‐buckling analysis for frames

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1977
AbstractPresented in this paper is a direct method of analysis of the elastic non‐linear behaviour of frames. Emphasis is given to the method's capability of tracing the post‐buckling path from a bifurcation point although the method can also trace the non‐linear behaviour of frames with eccentricities.

Effect of negative Poisson’s ratio on the post-buckling behavior of FG-GRMMC laminated plates in thermal environments

, 2020
In this paper we will investigate the impact of in-plane negative Poisson’s ratio (NPR) on the post-buckling responses of graphene-reinforced metal matrix composite (GRMMC) laminated plates under uni- and bi-axial in-plane compressive loads.
