The Post-Buckling Problem for Thin Elastic Shells
SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1971An asymptotic integration technique is developed to describe the post-buckling behavior of thin elastic shells. The introduction of slow space and time scales directly into the shell differential equations permits a modeling of dynamic effects and a means of accounting for finite boundaries.

Thin-Walled Structures, 2019
Abstract In this paper, comprehensive studies on the size-dependent thermal post-buckling and coupled bi-directional transverse-longitudinal free vibration behavior of post-buckled rotating pre-twisted functionally graded (FG) microbeams in thermal environment are presented.

Post-Buckling Behavior of a Thick Circular Plate
AIAA Journal, 1984In the present work, the previously derived nonlinear equations [the authors, ibid. 21, 1317-1324 (1983; Zbl 0543.73089)] of a transversely isotropic circular thick plate in a general state of nonuniform initial stress are used. The post-buckling problems of both simply supported and clamped axisymmetric circular plates subjected to uniform in-plane ...

The dynamics of symmetric post-buckling
International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1985Abstract This work examines the relationship between natural frequency and compressive load for a conservative elastic mechanical system characterised by symmetric buckling. Application of some general theory shows that for a perfect system, exhibiting a stable-symmetric point of bifurcation, the initial post-buckling curve of compressive load ...

Post-Buckling Behaviour of Rectangular Orthotropic Plates
Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 1973An analysis is presented for the post-buckling behaviour of a simply supported, rectangular, orthotropic plate subjected to biaxial compression. The solution of von Karman-type large deflection equations of the plate satisfying the prescribed boundary conditions is expressed in the form of a double Fourier series for the transverse deflection and a ...

Stress Analysis of Post-Buckled Sandwich Panels
Volume 3: Structures, Safety, and Reliability, 2018The paper presents a method to assess stresses in sandwich plates with periodic microstructure in the post-buckling region. The fundamental assumption is that the microstructure is linear elastic and von Karman non-linearity is present only at macro-, i.e. panel-scale.

On the solution of second‐order post‐buckling fields
Communications in Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1995AbstractSecond‐order post‐buckling fields emanate from the solutions of a constrained minimization problem. Two iterative solution algorithms for this specific type of constrained problem are described. A classical augmented Lagrangian algorithm is compared with a simpler one utilizing the specific feature of the initial post‐buckling analysis ...

Post-Buckling of Functionally Graded Cylindrical Shells
Volume 1: Advances in Aerospace Technology, 2007In this study, the post-buckling analysis of functionally graded cylindrical shells was carried out using the non-linear finite element method. The longitudinal shell edges were hinged under a central transverse concentrated load. The shells were composed of ceramic (Al2O3) and metal (Ni) phases and the mechanical properties at the region between the ...

Post‐buckling analysis of structures by dynamic relaxation
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1993AbstractThe paper presents a displacement incrementation procedure to handle multiple loadings in post‐buckling analysis of structures by Dynamic Relaxation (DR). This procedure is generalized and a ‘variable‐arc‐length’ method is proposed to automate the tracing of load‐deflection path.
