Melt Electrowriting High Resolution Poly(ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate) Scaffolds for Soft Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work pioneers melt electrowriting (MEW) of polyethylene vinyl acetate (PEVA) to fabricate ultra‐compliant, high‐resolution scaffolds. By integrating microscale precision with soft tissue‐like biomechanics, PEVA overcomes stiffness‐driven limitations of conventional MEW polymers, establishing a mechanically biomimetic platform for soft tissue ...

The free vibrational characteristic of PFGM beams near the post-buckling configuration under thermal loads

open access: yesScience Progress
In recent years, the study of the static and dynamic mechanical behavior of porous functionally graded material (PFGM) structures has attracted much interest.

Diels‐Alder Click Chemistry as a Dynamic‐Covalent Crosslinking Method in Spheroid‐Encapsulating Hydrogels for Cartilage Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This research shows the development of hydrogels with Diels‐Alder click chemistry for engineering cartilage‐like tissue. The hydrogels support cartilage spheroids which could be cultured for at least 28 days. Furthermore, the spheroids showed a tendency to fuse together into a more consistent construct, and produced important components needed for ...

Nonlinear analysis of stability for imperfect eccentrically stiffened FGM plates under mechanical and thermal loads based on FSDT. Part 1: Governing equations establishment

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2015
In this paper, the buckling and post-buckling behaviors of eccentrically  stiffened functionally graded material (ES-FGM) plates on elastic  foundations subjected to in-plane compressive loads or thermal loads are  investigated by an analytical solution.

Selected Problems of Determining Critical Loads in Sructures with Stable Post-Critical Behaviour. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents selected cases of inapplicability of theory based methods of determining critical loads in thin – walled, composite tubes. 8th layered composite tubes with square cross-section were being subjected to static compression and in order ...

Aptamer‐Based Delivery Systems for VEGF and NGF Modulation in Ocular Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aptamer‐based delivery systems targeting NGF and VEGF hold significant potential for precise and sustained treatment of complex diseases affecting both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. This review critically summarizes current strategies for NGF and VEGF delivery as well as VEGF sequestration, providing a clinical perspective on how ...

Post-critical buckling of truncated conical carbon nanotubes considering surface effects embedding in a nonlinear Winkler substrate using the Rayleigh-Ritz method

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
This research predicts theoretically post-critical axial buckling behavior of truncated conical carbon nanotubes (CCNTs) with several boundary conditions by assuming a nonlinear Winkler matrix.

Effect of distortion on the buckling strength of stiffened panels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper predicts the behaviour of stiffened plates with different distortion levels in order to address a rational structural design procedure as pre-existing and fabricationrelated (like weld-induced) initial geometrical distortion is of great ...

Temporally Delayed Deployment of Photo‐Responsive Liquid Crystal Polymer Networks Toward Neural Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Deployable medical devices typically need external stimuli to trigger deployment. However, external stimuli are difficult to supply within tissues. Here, we describe a strategy to deploy small‐scale structures into soft tissues after insertion without the need for any stimulus. We demonstrate deployment within a tissue phantom.

Microscale application of column theory for high resolution force and displacement sensing

open access: yes, 2004
We present the design, fabrication and experimental validation of a novel device that exploits the amplification of displacement and attenuation of structural stiffness in the post-buckling deformation of slender columns to obtain pico-Newton force and ...
