Rapid suture management of post-keratoplasty astigmatism [PDF]
Post-keratoplasty astigmatism is managed by topography-guided suture removal. This can take several weeks until satisfactory reduction in astigmatism is achieved. This study aimed to assess whether topography performed 30-40 min after the removal of the first pair of sutures would predict the next set of sutures requiring removal.A prospective study of

Causes of high astigmatism after penetrating keratoplasty
We retrospectively evaluated the factors which might have caused excessive corneal astigmatism after penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) in 29 eyes, in which surgical correction of astigmatism was indicated.

Relaxing Keratotomy for Post-Keratoplasty High Astigmatism
Ophthalmic Surgery Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1983SUMMARY Seventeen patients underwent relaxing keratotomy for post-keratoplasty high astigmatism (range 8.5 to 18.0 diopters). The mean reduction in cylinder was 7.53 (±3.13 SD) diopters, with a range from 2.5 to 11.5 diopters. There was a trend toward a more myopic spherical equivalent of 1.69 (±2.29 SD) diopters with a range of 0.43 diopters

The management of post-keratoplasty astigmatism by post-operative adjustment of a single continuous suture [PDF]
Penetrating keratoplasty was performed in 39 consecutive patients. A 16 bite 10-0 nylon continuous suture was used. Post-operatively, the suture was adjusted to reduce astigmatism, as determined by refraction, keratoscopy and keratometry. Suture adjustment was performed if astigmatism was over 4 dioptres (D).

Ruiz Procedure for Post-Keratoplasty Astigmatism
Journal of Refractive Surgery, 1987ABSTRACT: Thirteen patients with moderate to large amounts of astigmatism after penetrating keratoplasty underwent one of two 1orm$ of relaxing incision described first by Ruiz. Five patients were treated with the trapezoidal incision paitem and eight patients were treated with the newer rectangular incision pattern, both with variable incision length.

Femtosecond-assisted astigmatic keratotomy for post-keratoplasty irregular astigmatism
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2009We describe the technique of femtosecond-assisted astigmatic keratotomy (AK) in a post-keratoplasty patient with irregular, nonorthogonal astigmatism. Using the keratoplasty software, an anterior arcuate side cut (400 mum thick, 6.5 mm diameter) was created using the femtosecond laser in a 68-year-old woman with irregular astigmatism 28 years after ...

Trapezoidal Relaxing Incision for Post Keratoplasty Astigmatism
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1986ABSTRACT Eleven patients with high astigmatism after penetrating keratoplasty underwent a new form of relaxing keratotomy, the trapezoidal relaxing keratotomy, originally described by Ruiz. The average preoperative astigmatism was 7.89 diopters (range 4.25 to 12.50 diopters) with an average reduction in cylinder of 5.00 diopters (range 0-9.5 ...
