Necrotizing pneumonia and empyema caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum are uncommon. The classical presentation of Lemierre′s syndrome, characterized by pharyngotonsillitis and internal jugular vein thrombosis, is not always observed, and incomplete and atypical variants can cause diagnostic uncertainty and delay in treatment.

Pseudogout or calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate deposition disease rarely occurs in the young. Known risk factors for pseudogout include age, previous surgery, trauma, metabolic conditions, and medications. Isotretinoin, a retinoid frequently used to control acne vulgaris, is known to cause arthralgia, arthritis, and myalgia.

ABSTRACT Tolosa–Hunt syndrome could be considered in patients with painful ophthalmoplegia following COVID‐19 infection, but caution should be exercised in attributing causality. Careful exclusion of alternative diagnoses is essential. Corticosteroids usually produce quick clinical relief.
