Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Development, optimization, and quality evaluation of chayote-based ready-to-cook snack “Papad”

open access: yesDiscover Food
This study aimed to improve the nutritional quality of papad by incorporating chayote fruit and paheli dal as alternative ingredients, using a D-Optimal Mixture Design. Thirteen formulation trials were conducted with varying proportions of chayote fruit (

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Apatite flotation using saponified baker's yeast cells (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) as a bioreagent

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2019
Brazil has many mineral resources, one of them being phosphate rocks. Established in 1978, the current main mineral-processing route for the Brazilian phosphate rock igneous deposits consists in a direct flotation using alkaline-saponified fatty acids as

Improving Post-Processing of Audio Event Detectors Using Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
We apply post-processing to the class probability distribution outputs of audio event classification models and employ reinforcement learning to jointly discover the optimal parameters for various stages of a post-processing stack, such as the ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
