Wolbachia elevates host methyltransferase expression and alters the m6A methylation landscape in Aedes aegypti mosquito cells

open access: yesBMC Microbiology
Wolbachia pipientis is an intracellular endosymbiotic bacterium that blocks the replication of several arboviruses in transinfected Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, yet its antiviral mechanism remains unknown. For the first time, we employed Nanopore direct RNA

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Emerging influence of RNA post-transcriptional modifications in the synovial homeostasis of rheumatoid arthritis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an important autoimmune disease that affects synovial tissues, accompanied by redness, pain, and swelling as main symptoms, which will limit the quality of daily life and even cause disability. Multiple coupling effects among

Day/night variations of myeloid and lymphoid cell subsets in the murine inguinal lymph node

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The circadian system is involved in the temporal regulation of the immune system. Our study reveals that two innate immune populations, NKT cells and neutrophils, predominate at the beginning of the day in healthy mice, highlighting how the time of day influences immune responses.

Naked cuticle is essential for Drosophila wing development beyond Wingless signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Naked cuticle (Nkd), a Wnt signaling inhibitor, assumes extensive roles in Drosophila wing development. Overexpressing Nkd causes smaller, crumpled wings, while also perturbing multiple signaling pathways and developmental genes. A specific region (R1S) is critical for Nkd's function as a signaling integrator, offering new insights for studying its ...

Arginine methylation in cancer: mechanisms and therapeutic implications

open access: yesBiomarker Research
Arginine methylation is a critical post-translational modification that modulates protein stability, enzymatic activity, and subcellular localization, thereby shaping cell fate decisions and maintaining cellular homeostasis.
