The incidence of post-traumatic psychoses can be appraised as 3-4 per cent in the adults who suffered a head injury. Post-traumatic psychoses appear as not directly provoked by the head injury but rather as precipitated by it, usually in young male patients with previous psychological disturbances which were more or less compensated formerly.

Post-traumatic cholesteatoma is a rare condition which has received scant attention in the English language literature. Three cases of different aetiology arising in the tympanomastoid region and in the external auditory canal are described, and the pathogenesis of the various types of traumatic cholesteatoma discussed.

AbstractCholesteatoma can develop as a late complication of fracture of the temporal bone. The otologist must be wary of it since the growth of the cholesteatoma resulting from a temporal bone fracture can be undetected for years allowing for invasive and extensive growth. Three illustrative cases are presented.

Acute traumatic brain injury causes a cascade of changes in brain metabolism, blood flow, and homeostasis that are challenges to survival. Seizures, whether focal or convulsive, may be a manifestation of the acute injury response and are liable to complicate management. This article discusses mechanisms and biochemical effects of brain injury, cellular
