Liquid Crystal Elastomers Filaments for Adaptive Textiles and Soft Robotics: A Processing‐Centric Review

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 47, Issue 15, 4 August 2026.
Liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) filaments are fabricated through extrusion with in‐process UV curing, enabling controlled flow alignment and network locking of mesogens. The resulting structure responds to thermal or optical stimuli, inducing molecular reorientation and macroscopic contraction.

Reprocessable Disulfide‐Based Vitrimers with Adhesive Properties

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 47, Issue 16, 18 August 2026.
A dual‐curing strategy combining UV‐induced thiol–ene polymerization and thermal thiol–epoxy curing was used to prepare disulfide‐based vitrimer networks with reprocessable, recyclable, and adhesive properties enabled by dynamic disulfide exchange. ABSTRACT A family of disulfide (S–S) containing thiol–vinyl–epoxy dynamic networks are presented.

Synergistic Enhancement of Strength and Creep Resistance in Additive Manufacturing Ti‐6.5Al‐2Zr‐Mo‐V Alloy via In Situ Co‐Modification With Si and Y Elements

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The demand for advanced aerospace components necessitates near‐α titanium alloys with enhanced high‐temperature performance and compatibility with additive manufacturing (AM). To address this, an in situ alloying strategy was employed to co‐modify a Ti‐6.5Al‐2Zr‐Mo‐V alloy with Si and Y during laser powder bed fusion.

In Situ Preparation of Ti2Ni/NiTi Dual‐Phase Alloy With High Wear Resistance and Damping Performance by Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Many metallic components are frequently subjected to coupled environments of friction and vibration, stemming from interfacial contact and relative motion between mating parts or external stimuli. Consequently, it is imperative for these components to exhibit a synergy of high wear resistance and superior damping properties.

Physical Anchoring‐Assisted Mechanically Guided Assembly for Material‐Independent 3D Mesostructures

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 44, 7 August 2026.
Conventional mechanically guided 3D assembly relies on selective chemical bonding between 2D precursors and elastomeric substrates, imposing fundamental limitations on material compatibility and scalability. Here, we present a physically anchored, buckling‐guided assembly platform based on a rod array patterned elastomeric substrate (RPES).

Kinetic Insights Into Boron–Carbon Interaction Under Programmed Heating

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 8, August 2026.
This work demonstrates the decisive role of the heating rate and short‐term mechanical activation in governing the boron–carbon interaction. The combined effect of rapid heating and mechanical activation enables the 4B + C reaction to proceed at significantly lower temperatures. For the first time, the effective activation energy of the 4B + C reaction
