Influence of heat input and post-weld heat treatment on the properties of the heat affected zone and weld metal of welded joints on S690QL steel

open access: yesThe International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology
Abstract The mechanical properties of heat-affected zone (HAZ) and weld metal (WM) of S690QL steel joints performed with a shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) process were determined. Three heat inputs (0.8, 1.7, and 2.5 kJ/mm) were applied, and properties were determined in the as-welded (AW) and after post weld heat treatment (PWHT). Tensile,

Actuation Strategies for Underwater Jet‐Propelled Soft Robots

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review article examines jet‐propulsion mechanisms in underwater soft robotic systems, focusing exclusively on physically fabricated and experimentally validated robots. Covering research published from 2013 to 2025, this study classifies and evaluates jet‐propulsion robots based on their actuation mechanisms.

POST WELD HEAT TREATMENT OF A HIGH-TEMPERATURE STEEL

open access: yes, 2021
After welding, heat treatment of weld joints on components made of high-temperature steels is usually necessary. In this work, several microstructures occurring in the heat affected zone (HAZ) in X10CrMoVNb9-1 high temperature steel were simulated: Coarse grained HAZ (CGHAZ), two different fine grained HAZ (FGHAZ) and intercritical HAZ (ICHAZ).

Synergizing Polysulfide Trapping and Fast Ion Kinetics Enabled by Poly(Acrylamide‐co‐Lithium Acrylate) Aqueous Binder for High‐Sulfur‐Loading Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A water‐soluble AmLA binder anchors lithium polysulfides and reinforces sulfur cathodes by combining amide and lithium acrylate functional groups. The dual‐function network retards polysulfide dissolution in operando and preserves electrode integrity under large volume changes.
