Recent Advances in Smart Tactile Sensory Systems with Brain‐Inspired Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 6, Issue 4, April 2024.
Herein, a smart tactile sensory system is investigated that consists of strain, pressure, temperature, multisensor, and machine learning analysis, having advantages of the big data processing by using neural network. Analysis types such as classification, regression, and spike neural network can be used appropriately for each purpose to implement a ...

Postbuckling analysis of functionally graded nanoplates based on nonlocal theory and isogeometric analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This study aims to investigate the postbuckling response of functionally graded (FG) nanoplates by using the nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen to capture the size effect.

Soft Kirigami Composites for Form‐Finding of Fully Flexible Deployables

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 9, Issue 1, January 8, 2024.
A new class of thin flexible structures are introduced that morph from flat into prescribed 3D shapes without an external stimulus such as mechanical loads or heat. To achieve control over the target shape, two different concepts are coupled: strain mismatch (inspired by biological growth) and kirigami cuts.

Energy‐Balance‐Based Plastic Design and Seismic Fragility Analysis of Steel Plate Shear Wall Coupled with Steel Side Columns

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
The steel plate shear wall (SPSW) coupled with steel side columns (SSCs) through steel coupling beams, or the SPSW–SSC coupled structural system, is a novel lateral force resisting system that introduces coupling mechanism to the isolated SPSW pier. To simplify the complex iteration of the conventional seismic design procedure and obtain the favorable ...

Dynamic Post-Buckling Behavior

open access: yesTransactions of the VŠB: Technical University of Ostrava, Civil Engineering Series, 2017
Geometric non-linear theory has been used to describe the post-buckling behavior of slender web. Hamilton’s principle in increments has been used. Examples of dynamic post-bucking behavior of slender web loaded in compression are presented.

Dynamic Modeling and Active Vibration Control of Piezoelectric Laminated Structure Based on Macrofiber Composite

open access: yesStructural Control and Health Monitoring, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
In this paper, a ground‐based experimental system for solar array active vibration suppression has been established. Firstly, in order to establish an accurate model of the solar array, the solar array is regarded as a flexible cantilevered thin plate, and the corresponding dynamical equations are derived using the absolute nodal coordinate method.
