Fenestration and occlusion of the posterior semicircular canal for benign positional vertigo

Clinical Otolaryngology, 1992
Benign positional vertigo is a potentially disabling condition characterized by episodic vertigo following certain provocative head movements. In most patients it is self limiting; however, in a few it may prove intractable, causing considerable social morbidity. In these patients surgery may be considered.

Quantification of hearing loss in patients with posterior semicircular canal dehiscence

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2015
Patients with posterior semicircular canal dehiscence (PSCD) have low frequency conductive hearing loss similar to patients with superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD) secondary to a pathologic third window.PSCD can result in conductive hearing loss, but the magnitude of this hearing loss remains to be quantified.

Experimental selective posterior semicircular canal laser deafferentation

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 2005
In this experimental study, we attempted to perform selective deafferentation of the posterior semicircular canal ampulla of guinea pigs using carbon dioxide laser beam. The results of this study document the efficacy of this procedure in achieving deafferentation of the posterior semicircular canal safely with regards to the other semicircular canals,

Posterior semicircular canal dehiscence: value of VEMP and multidetector CT.

B-ENT, 2006
To illustrate that posterior semicircular canal dehiscence can present similarly to superior semicircular canal dehiscence. The symptomatology initially presented as probable Menière's disease evolving into a mixed conductive hearing loss with a Carhart notch-type perceptive component suggestive of otosclerosis-type stapes fixation.
