Fenestration and occlusion of the posterior semicircular canal for benign positional vertigo
Clinical Otolaryngology, 1992Benign positional vertigo is a potentially disabling condition characterized by episodic vertigo following certain provocative head movements. In most patients it is self limiting; however, in a few it may prove intractable, causing considerable social morbidity. In these patients surgery may be considered.

Action potentials in the nerve from the posterior semicircular canal of the cat
Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1968A method is described to implant electrodes for recording the electrical activity in the branch of the vestibular nerve from the posterior semicircular canal of the cat. A tungsten electrode eroded to a point is inserted into the nerve through the internal auditory meatus and held in position with dental cement.

Quantification of hearing loss in patients with posterior semicircular canal dehiscence
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2015Patients with posterior semicircular canal dehiscence (PSCD) have low frequency conductive hearing loss similar to patients with superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD) secondary to a pathologic third window.PSCD can result in conductive hearing loss, but the magnitude of this hearing loss remains to be quantified.

Experimental selective posterior semicircular canal laser deafferentation
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 2005In this experimental study, we attempted to perform selective deafferentation of the posterior semicircular canal ampulla of guinea pigs using carbon dioxide laser beam. The results of this study document the efficacy of this procedure in achieving deafferentation of the posterior semicircular canal safely with regards to the other semicircular canals,

Direction-reversing Nystagmus in Horizontal and Posterior Semicircular Canal Canalolithiasis
Otology & Neurotology, 2016To investigate the incidence and characteristics of direction-reversing nystagmus in patients with horizontal (HSCC) and posterior semicircular canal (PSCC) canalolithiasis, and evaluate the effect of direction-reversing nystagmus on the treatment outcome.A retrospective study.Between March 2014 and September 2015, 63 and 92 consecutive patients with ...

Posterior semicircular canal dehiscence: value of VEMP and multidetector CT.
B-ENT, 2006To illustrate that posterior semicircular canal dehiscence can present similarly to superior semicircular canal dehiscence. The symptomatology initially presented as probable Menière's disease evolving into a mixed conductive hearing loss with a Carhart notch-type perceptive component suggestive of otosclerosis-type stapes fixation.
