Morphological and clinical characteristics of myopic posterior staphyloma in Caucasians
Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 2016We aimed to study the morphological characteristics of myopic posterior staphyloma in Caucasians and to evaluate the correlation between posterior staphyloma, myopic macular lesions and visual acuity.Ninety eyes of 67 consecutive patients affected by high myopia associated with posterior staphyloma were recruited between January 2012 and December 2013.

Ultrasonic forms of posterior staphyloma.
Annals of ophthalmology, 1991The most frequent deformations of the globe encountered in pediatric ophthalmology are staphylomas and colobomas. In this paper we reviewed 16 ultrasonographically diagnosed staphylomas and classified the ultrasonographic patterns produced by staphyloma cases into four types: (1) staphylomas involving the posterior pole but not the optic nerve head, (2)

POSTERIOR STAPHYLOMAS IN EYES WITH RETINITIS PIGMENTOSA WITHOUT HIGH MYOPIA
Retina, 2019Purpose: To describe features of posterior staphylomas in nonhighly myopic eyes with retinitis pigmentosa (RP). Methods: The retrospective observational case series study included patients with RP and an axial length of <26.5 mm and searched for eyes with posterior staphylomas ...

Ultra-Wide Field OCT of Posterior Staphyloma
2020Ultra-wide field OCT (UWF-OCT) is a useful instrument for the detection and classification of posterior staphylomas. Morphological features of posterior staphylomas shown by UWF-OCT are gradual thinning of the choroid from the periphery toward the edge of the staphyloma and a gradual re-thickening of the choroid in the direction toward the posterior ...

Wide-Field Fundus Imaging of Posterior Staphyloma
2020Posterior staphylomas involve a wider area than the area covered in 50 degree fundus photos. Wide-field fundus images can accommodate an entire extent of wide staphylomas. Although wide-field fundus images do not provide 3D information, the pigmentary alterations along the staphyloma edges may be a good indicator of staphylomas.
