Multibaseline Gradient Ambiguity Resolution To Support Minimum Cost Flow Phase Unwrapping

open access: yes, 2010
The TanDEM-X Mission has as primary objective to generate a high resolution global Digital Elevation Model. This paper proposes a new method for multibaseline Phase Unwrapping which is the critical point of this generation.

Adaptive mesh refinements for thin shells whose middle surface is not exactly known [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A strategy concerning mesh refinements for thin shells computation is presented. The geometry of the shell is given only by the reduced information consisting in nodes and normals on its middle surface corresponding to a coarse mesh.

Diagnostic accuracy of transmucosal probe visualization for peri‐implant mucosal phenotype assessment: A cross‐sectional study

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of visual assessment of mucosal transparency using a standard periodontal probe (VAT) to differentiate between thin and thick peri‐implant mucosal phenotypes, compared to horizontal transmucosal probing (HTP).

Essencialismo, referência e o A posteriori necessário

open access: yesFilosofia Unisinos, 2011
Este artigo discorre sobre as incongruências e lacunas epistemológicas identificadas no ponto de vista de Kripke acerca das referências. Questiono a consistência da noção de Kripke sobre uma necessidade a posteriori e demonstro que todos os exemplos ...

A posteriori corrections for cubic and quintic interpolating splines at equally-spaced knots

open access: yes, 1985
The method proposed recently by Lucas [13], for the a posteriori correction of odd degree interpolating periodic splines is extended to non-periodic cubic and quintic ...

Computer simulation vs. computer-aided proof -- a priori or a posteriori?

open access: yes, 2023
Computer simulations and computer-aided proofs both use digital computers. Despite that, they have not often been considered together. Yet, both methods raise similar questions. In particular, are they a priori or rather a posteriori?

The hybridity of what is necessary a posteriori

open access: yes, 2020
El presente escrito propone que lo necesario a posteriori corresponde a un caso híbrido de justificación, sin que ello conduzca a un compromiso racionalista extremo.

Behavioral responses of black bears to human presence and infrastructure in Yosemite National Park

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Using GPS collar data from black bears in Yosemite National Park, we examined how bear spatiotemporal activity in relation to human development shifted during the COVID‐19 park closure in 2020. In the absence of visitors, bears maintained consistent landscape‐scale space use but altered fine‐scale spatial and temporal behaviors.

Improving maximum likelihood estimation using prior probabilities: A tutorial on maximum a posteriori estimation and an examination of the weibull distribution [PDF]

open access: yesTutorials in Quantitative Methods for Psychology, 2013
This tutorial describes a parameter estimation technique that is little-known in social sciences, namely maximum a posteriori estimation. This technique can be used in conjunction with prior knowledge to improve maximumlikelihood estimation of the best ...

Symmetric Interior Penalty DG Methods for the Compressible Navier-Stokes Equations II: Goal--Oriented A Posteriori Error Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this article we consider the application of the generalization of the symmetric version of the interior penalty discontinuous Galerkin finite element method to the numerical approximation of the compressible Navier--Stokes equations. In particular, we
