Abstract This is a brief abstract of postherpetic neuralgia. Post-herpetic neuralgia can be a troubling diagnosis, but it is also known as a classic example of a neuropathic pain condition and is well studied. It provides a clear example of how a peripheral nerve change can lead to dysfunction of the central nervous system.
