Postnatal care of newborns in the family context: an integrative review.

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Enfermagem, 2020
OBJECTIVE to analyze the postnatal care practices of newborns in the family context from the scientific literature. METHODS the searches of the integrative literature review were carried out in the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health ...

A brief group intervention using a cognitive-behavioural approach to reduce postnatal depressive symptoms: a randomised controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Key Messages: 1. Postnatal women preferred psychotherapy to pharmacotherapy for reduction of postnatal depression. ; 2. A brief, cognitive-behavioural, group intervention with 6 weekly sessions significantly reduced depressive symptoms and was well ...

CRP Deficiency Rescues Periodontitis‐Induced Hippocampal Neurogenesis Impairment by Suppressing OPC‐Derived BMP4 Signaling in Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic periodontitis elevates circulating CRP, which enters the hippocampus to upregulate BMP4 in oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs), thereby impairing neurogenesis and inducing anxiety/depression‐like behaviors in rats. Counteracting this pathway, CRP deficiency helps confer functional resilience to OPCs.

Assessing the quality of postnatal care offered to mothers and babies by midwives in Lilongwe District

open access: yesSouth African Family Practice, 2020
Background The quality of care received by mothers and newborns in low-resource settings is often poor. This may partly explain the high rates of maternal deaths (60%) that occur during the postpartum period in Malawi.

Promotion of DFU Wound Healing via BRG1–COL16A1 Axis in Fibroblasts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In normal wound healing, transcription factor BRG1 is upregulated and binds the COL16A1 promoter to enhance its expression, promoting fibroblast proliferation, migration, contraction, extracellular matrix deposition, and granulation tissue formation, thus accelerating wound closure.

Cortical Somatostatin Neurons Regulate Seizure Susceptibility via MINAR1/Gαs–cAMP Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our study identifies MINAR1 as a novel regulator of cortical interneuron excitability and seizure susceptibility. MINAR1 is preferentially expressed in SST+ interneurons. Genetic ablation of MINAR1 leads to seizure hypersensitivity, reduced SST+ neuron excitability, and impaired Gαs–cAMP signaling, disrupting the E/I balance.

Maternal cell-free DNA-based screening for fetal microdeletion and the importance of careful diagnostic follow-up. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BackgroundNoninvasive prenatal screening (NIPS) by next-generation sequencing of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) in maternal plasma is used to screen for common aneuploidies such as trisomy 21 in high risk pregnancies.

Nitrogen‐Boosted H2O2 Production of Arginine‐Polyphenol Nanozyme Drives Oxidative Eustress for Hair Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PEA nanoenzymes are assembled from L‐arginine and EGCG. The nitrogen element in arginine enhances the thermodynamic feasibility of H2O2 production through PEA's oxygen reduction catalysis, enabling nitrogen‐dependent H2O2 release. Intradermal delivery of PEA via microneedles promotes efficient H2O2 synthesis, thereby stimulating regrowth in telogen ...
