Quotients of S2×S2$S^2\times {S^2}$

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 108, Issue 4, Page 1393-1416, October 2023., 2023
Abstract We consider closed topological 4‐manifolds M$M$ with universal cover S2×S2${S^2\times {S^2}}$ and Euler characteristic χ(M)=1$\chi (M) = 1$. All such manifolds with π=π1(M)≅Z/4$\pi =\pi _1(M)\cong {\mathbb {Z}/{4}}$ are homotopy equivalent.

Cobble Tracking Observations at Torrey Pines State Beach, CA, USA

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, Volume 128, Issue 9, September 2023., 2023
Abstract Cobbles provide a nature‐based method to help generate beach stability. However, few detailed cobble movement observations exist. This study deployed 344 radio‐frequency identification tagged cobbles in a California beach in November–December 2020. Coincident LiDAR surveys quantified beach morphology.

Associahedra for finite‐type cluster algebras and minimal relations between g‐vectors

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 127, Issue 3, Page 513-588, September 2023., 2023
Abstract We show that the mesh mutations are the minimal relations among the g${\bm{g}}$‐vectors with respect to any initial seed in any finite‐type cluster algebra. We then use this algebraic result to derive geometric properties of the g${\bm{g}}$‐vector fan: we show that the space of all its polytopal realizations is a simplicial cone, and we then ...

The Segal conjecture for smash powers

open access: yesJournal of Topology, Volume 16, Issue 2, Page 567-587, June 2023., 2023
Abstract We prove that the comparison map from G$G$‐fixed points to G$G$‐homotopy fixed points, for the G$G$‐fold smash power of a bounded below spectrum B$B$, becomes an equivalence after p$p$‐completion if G$G$ is a finite p$p$‐group and H∗(B;Fp)$H_*(B; \mathbb {F}_p)$ is of finite type.

A greedy chip‐firing game

open access: yesRandom Structures &Algorithms, Volume 62, Issue 3, Page 645-666, May 2023., 2023
Abstract We introduce a deterministic analogue of Markov chains that we call the hunger game. Like rotor‐routing, the hunger game deterministically mimics the behavior of both recurrent Markov chains and absorbing Markov chains. In the case of recurrent Markov chains with finitely many states, hunger game simulation concentrates around the stationary ...

Annual Banned‐Substance Review 18th Edition—Analytical Approaches in Human Sports Drug Testing 2024/2025

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 18, Issue 4, Page 458-482, April 2026.
New insights into drug metabolism, distribution, elimination, and detection assays for drugs and methods of sports doping published between 2024 and 2025 are critically reviewed and evaluated in context with the Prohibited List 2025 as established by the World Anti‐Doping Agency.

Environmental Supply Chain Regulations in a Changing Market Environment: Exploring the EU's Regulatory Power in the Cocoa Sector in Ghana

open access: yesJCMS: Journal of Common Market Studies, Volume 64, Issue 2, Page 811-834, March 2026.
Abstract The article explores the European Union's (EU) regulatory power through supply chain initiatives, in the context of shifting market dynamics towards China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Focusing on the EU Regulation on Deforestation‐free products (EUDR) and the cocoa sector in Ghana as a most likely case study, the article

An Evermore Geoeconomic European Union? Exploring Critical Perspectives for Future Research

open access: yesJCMS: Journal of Common Market Studies, Volume 64, Issue 1, Page 431-448, January 2026.
Abstract In response to a more contentious and geopolitically fractious international environment, the European Union's (EU) approach to international economic policies has in recent years undergone a significant shift, often referred to as the EU's ‘geoeconomic turn’. Whilst valuable academic and policy work has explored this ongoing shift, there is a

Cohomotopy sets of (n−1)$(n-1)$‐connected (2n+2)$(2n+2)$‐manifolds for small n$n$

open access: yesTransactions of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 12, Issue 1, December 2025.
Abstract Let M$M$ be a closed orientable (n−1)$(n-1)$‐connected (2n+2)$(2n+2)$‐manifold, n⩾2$n\geqslant 2$. In this paper, we combine the Postnikov tower of spheres and the homotopy decomposition of the reduced suspension space ΣM$\Sigma M$ to investigate the (integral) cohomotopy sets π*(M)$\pi ^\ast (M)$ for n=2,3,4$n=2,3,4$, under the assumption ...

Equivariant Hilbert and Ehrhart series under translative group actions

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 112, Issue 5, November 2025.
Abstract We study representations of finite groups on Stanley–Reisner rings of simplicial complexes and on lattice points in lattice polytopes. The framework of translative group actions allows us to use the theory of proper colorings of simplicial complexes without requiring an explicit coloring to be given.
