Stable equivalence relations on 4‐manifolds
Abstract Kreck's modified surgery gives an approach to classifying smooth 2n$2n$‐manifolds up to stable diffeomorphism, that is, up to connected sum with copies of Sn×Sn$S^n \times S^n$. In dimension 4, we use a combination of modified and classical surgery to study various stable equivalence relations which we compare to stable diffeomorphism.

Motivic p$p$‐adic tame cohomology
Abstract We construct a comparison functor between (A1$\mathbf {A}^1$‐local) tame motives and (□¯${\overline{\square }}$‐local) log‐étale motives over a field k$k$ of positive characteristic. This generalizes Binda–Park–Østvær's comparison for the Nisnevich topology.

We introduce the category Pstem[n] of n-stems, with a functor P[n] from spaces to Pstem[n]. This can be thought of as the n-th order homotopy groups of a space.

Regional Determinants of Attitudes Toward Immigrants in Germany
ABSTRACT Attitudes toward immigrants play a crucial role in voting behavior. Such attitudes are shaped by individual characteristics, but also by the environment. This paper examines the role of regional factors in Germany. We use individual‐level survey data and district‐level administrative data.

Social Clauses in Free Trade Agreements: An Efficient Tool to Improve Labour Standards?
ABSTRACT This paper aimed at measuring the effect of labour provisions in free trade agreements on level of labour standards. After the failure of WTO negotiations, we observed a rapid development of preferential trade agreements, including different types of labour clauses.

Phonon-assisted radiofrequency absorption by gold nanoparticles resulting in hyperthermia
It is suggested that in gold nanoparticles (GNPs) of about 5 nm sizes used in the radiofrequency (RF) hyperthermia, an absorption of the RF photon by the Fermi electron occurs with involvement of the longitudinal acoustic vibrational mode (LAVM), the ...

Feigin–Odesskii brackets associated with Kodaira cycles and positroid varieties
Abstract We establish a link between open positroid varieties in the Grassmannians G(k,n)$G(k,n)$ and certain moduli spaces of complexes of vector bundles over Kodaira cycle Cn$C^n$, using the shifted Poisson structure on the latter moduli spaces and relating them to the standard Poisson structure on G(k,n)$G(k,n)$.

Two‐photon‐initiated reversible addition–fragmentation chain‐transfer (2PRAFT) polymerization enables the modification of surfaces with polymer brushes with defined micropattern and chemistry. Compared to other preceding techniques, like digital light processing‐based photoinduced electron transfer–RAFT or direct UV laser writing, 2PRAFT is capable of ...

Plasmon‐driven molecular scission
Abstract Plasmon‐driven photocatalysis offers a unique means of leveraging nanoscale light–matter interactions to convert photon energy into chemical energy in a chemoselective and regioselective manner under mild reaction conditions. Plasmon‐driven bond cleavage in molecular adsorbates represents a critical step in virtually all plasmon‐mediated ...

Fix an integer partition lambda that has no more than n parts. Let beta be a weakly increasing n-tuple with entries from {1,..,n}. The flagged Schur function indexed by lambda and beta is a polynomial generating function in x_1, .., x_n for certain ...
