Photothermal‐Activated Antibacterial Amyloid‐Polyphenol‐Iron Hydrogels for Synergistic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We report a thermally triggered supramolecular hydrogel (LTFe) formed by Fe3+ and tannic acid on lysozyme amyloid fibrils. Fe3+ enables rapid gelation and photothermal transduction with an efficiency of 88.56%. The LTFe hydrogel exhibits excellent biocompatibility, potent antibacterial activity against E. coli and S.

Capturing surgical site infection after hip fracture surgery: insights from linked routine data

open access: yesBone & Joint Open
Aims: To evaluate the incidence, timing, and capture of surgical site infections (SSIs) following hip fracture surgery using routinely collected primary and secondary care datasets, and to assess the limitations of using such resources to identify SSIs ...

Immunoinflammatory Mechanisms and Biocompatibility of Bioactive Dental Biomaterials: From Fundamental Insights to Clinical Translation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Surface‐host dialogue at the implant interface governs biological fate and osseointegration. Surface physicochemical properties of titanium (Ti) dental implants, including microgrooves, nanopatterns, nanotopography, roughness, and wettability, modulate the initial adsorption of proteins and the formation of a dynamic biointerface.

Laparoscopic omentoplasty and split skin graft for deep sternal wound infection and dehiscence patient [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Treatment of sternotomy dehiscence secondary to infection is complex. We describe a case where following debridement and negative pressure therapy the greater omentum was harvested laparoscopically, pedicled on the right gastroepiploic artery and ...

SLOVENIAN GUIDELINES ON ANTIBIOTIC PROPHYLAXIS APPLICATION IN NEUROSURGICAL OPERATIONS

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2014
Postoperative infections increase morbidity and mortality of patients undergoing neurosurgical operations. Correct application of prophylactic antibiotics before, during and after surgery is therefore crucial.

Postoperative candida infection following complex periocular reconstruction

open access: yes, 2021
Postoperative candida infection is a rarely reported complication in cutaneous surgery, although it may develop more often in particular clinical settings. We present a 59-year-old woman with a well-controlled human immunodeficiency virus infection.
