Uterus‐preserving surgery for placenta accreta spectrum: An expert, illustrated review of techniques and its outcomes

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Uterus‐preserving strategies for PAS include myometrial resection and leaving placenta in situ, differing in surgical principles, complications, and follow‐up. Myometrial resection offers definitive treatment with lower rates of delayed morbidity, while leaving the placenta in situ minimizes surgical risk but is associated with prolonged follow‐up ...

Effects of gestational weight gain and HbA1C on fetal growth and birthweight in women with obesity

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Our results indicate that HbA1C measured in the third semester and the modifiable gestational weight gain are exposures with the potential to influence fetal growth and birthweight in this population of pregnant women with pBMI ≥35 kg/m2. Abstract Introduction Fetal growth and birthweight are influenced by various endogenous and exogenous factors ...

Investigating relationships among strontium, barium, and seasonality in wild baboons

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
Abstract Geochemical profiles of Australopithecus africanus and baboon teeth show fluctuating trace elements, possibly reflecting seasonal diets. Here we use laser ablation–inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometric measurements of calcium‐normalized strontium and barium ratios (Sr/Ca and Ba/Ca) and ion microprobe analyses of oxygen isotopes (δ18O ...
