Dapagliflozin alleviates high‐fat‐induced obesity cardiomyopathy by inhibiting ferroptosis

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1358-1373, April 2025.
Abstract Aim: Dapagliflozin (Dapa) is a novel hypoglycaemic agent with multiple cardiovascular protective effects, and it is widely used in treatment of heart failure patients, but whether it can improve obese phenotype of heart failure and its mechanism is still unclear.

POSTPRANDIAL HYPOGLYCEMIA

open access: yesJournal of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies
INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUNDInsulinomas typically present with fasting hypoglycemia, owing to the autonomous secretion of insulin from this neuroendocrine tumor. A presenting complaint of postprandial hypoglycemia in a patient with insulinoma is rare, with a slight male predominance.

Tracking Glucose Trends, Unveiling Clinical Patterns: Insights From Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Patients at the Extreme of BMI and Eating Disorders Psychopathology

open access: yesEuropean Eating Disorders Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Disturbances of glucose homoeostasis are claimed to act as both a consequence and maintaining factor in eating disorders (EDs). This study explored glucose trends and their association with real‐time food intake and self‐report eating psychopathology in a sample of patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) and binge‐eating disorder (BED ...

99mTc Labeled Glucagon-Like Peptide-1-Analogue (99mTc-GLP1) Scintigraphy in the Management of Patients with Occult Insulinoma. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
The aim of this study was to assess the utility of [Lys40(Ahx-HYNIC-99mTc/EDDA)NH2]-exendin-4 scintigraphy in the management of patients with hypoglycemia, particularly in the detection of occult insulinoma.Forty patients with hypoglycemia and increased ...

Medicinal Pasta Alleviates Oxidative Stress and Metabolic Complications in Diabetic Rats

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Composite ratio mixture of wheat, unripe plantain and moringa flours used to produce pasta modulated lipid profile, related glucose metabolic enzymes, and antioxidant in diabetic rats. ABSTRACT Medicinal plant‐based foods from natural sources with antioxidant properties, cholesterol, blood glucose, and blood pressure reducing properties are rarely ...

A rare case of insulinoma presenting with postprandial hypoglycemia. [PDF]

open access: yesAm J Case Rep, 2014
Although fasting hypoglycemia has historically been considered the hallmark of insulinoma, postprandial hypoglycemia has also been occasionally reported as the predominant feature. We report a rare case of an insulinoma diagnosed in an individual presenting exclusively with postprandial hypoglycemia without fasting hypoglycemia.A 47-year-old woman with

Meta-analysis of insulin aspart versus regular human insulin used in a basal-bolus regimen for the treatment of diabetes mellitus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: The objective of the current study was to compare the efficacy of two different insulin formulations, insulin aspart (IAsp) and regular human insulin (RHI), for prandial insulin coverage with neutral protamine Hagedorn (NPH) insulin as basal

Antioxidant Activity and Inhibition of Carbohydrate Hydrolyzing Enzymes by Underutilized Parts From Some Plant‐Based Foods and Their Effect on Postprandial Hyperglycemia

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
The underutilized parts viz: pawpaw seed, banana, plantain, and potato peels showed promising antioxidant and inhibition of α‐amylase and α‐glucosidase activities (IC50 values ≤ 100 μg/mL). Similarly, pawpaw seed, banana, plantain, and potato peels reduced postprandial hyperglycemia in sucrose‐ and maltose‐induced hyperglycemia in rats.
