The Equivalence Postulate of Quantum Mechanics, Dark Energy, and the Intrinsic Curvature of Elementary Particles [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2013
The equivalence postulate of quantum mechanics offers an axiomatic approach to quantum field theories and quantum gravity. The equivalence hypothesis can be viewed as adaptation of the classical Hamilton-Jacobi formalism to quantum mechanics. The construction reveals two key identities that underlie the formalism in Euclidean or Minkowski spaces.

Numerical simulation of a self-leveling experiment using a hybrid method

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2014
The postulated core disruptive accidents (CDAs) are regarded as particular difficulties in the safety analysis of liquid-metal fast reactors (LMFRs).

The Occurrence of Vitric Tuff in Quaternary Deposits of Gljev in Dalmatia (Southern Croatia)

open access: yesGeologia Croatica, 2010
For the first time in the Dinaric region of Dalmatia vitric tuff has been discovered in the clayey Quaternary deposits. Petrographic, heavy mineral and X-ray analyses revealed fine volcanic ash, illitic material (as an alteration product of glass shards),

Formation Mechanism of CaCO3 Spherulites in the Myostracum Layer of Limpet Shells

open access: yesCrystals, 2017
CaCO3 spherulites were found in the myostracum layer of common limpet shells collected from East Sands, St Andrews, Scotland. Their microstructures were revealed by using powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, high-resolution ...

Gas phase electrochemical detection of single latex particles

open access: yes, 2023
n this study we describe zero current potentiometric measurements in a gaseous flame electrolyte, for the detection of single latex particles. Combustion of polystyrene latex particles when added to a premixed hydrogen/oxygen/nitrogen flame, results in ...

Disruption of an Alumina Layer During Sintering of Aluminium in Nitrogen

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2017
Aluminium oxide layer on aluminium particles cannot be avoided. However, to make the metal-metal contacts possible, this sintering barrier has to be overcome in some way, necessarily to form sintering necks and their development.

Mechanisms of SiO oxidation: Implications for dust formation

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2023
Reactions of SiO molecules have been postulated to initiate efficient formation of silicate dust particles in outflows around dying (AGB) stars. Both OH radicals and H2O molecules can be present in these environments and their reactions with SiO and the ...

Host Vesicle Fusion Protein VAPB Contributes to the Nuclear Egress Stage of Herpes Simplex Virus Type-1 (HSV-1) Replication

open access: yesCells, 2019
The primary envelopment/de-envelopment of Herpes viruses during nuclear exit is poorly understood. In Herpes simplex virus type-1 (HSV-1), proteins pUL31 and pUL34 are critical, while pUS3 and some others contribute; however, efficient membrane fusion ...

An analytical solution to calculate bulk mole fractions for any number of components in aerosol droplets after considering partitioning to a surface layer [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2010
Calculating the equilibrium composition of atmospheric aerosol particles, using all variations of Köhler theory, has largely assumed that the total solute concentrations define both the water activity and surface tension.
