Catalytic effect of alkali metals on biomass pyrolysis kinetics [PDF]
Biomass is a low-carbon, resource, which is finding increasing use for heating and the generation of electricity. Biomass pyrolysis plays a central role in its combustion and is therefore receiving extensive consideration. The decomposition of biomass is

Semiconductor-to-Metal Transition in the Bulk of WSe2 upon Potassium Intercalation [PDF]
We present electron energy-loss spectroscopic measurements of potassium (K) intercalated tungsten diselenide (WSe2). After exposure of pristine WSe2 films to potassium, we observe a charge carrier plasmon excitation at about 0.97 eV, which indicates a semiconductor to metal transition. Our data signal the formation of one particular doped K-WSe2 phase.

Effects of Potassium Source and Secondary Nutrients on Potato Yield and Quality in Southcentral Alaska. [PDF]
Calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and sulfur (S) are required for the growth and development of all higher plants. They are commonly referred to as secondary nutrients because they are less often limiting to plant growth than the primary nutrients nitrogen ...

Photo‐Assisted Zn‐Iodine Battery via Bifunctional Cathode with Iodine Host and Solar Response Boost
A bifunctional cathode based on BiOI materials is developed for photo‐assisted Zn‐iodine batteries, serving as both an iodine host and a solar‐responsive material. This design enables dual reaction routes involving vacancy‐based iodine storage and reversible two steps iodine redox.

This study introduces a conductive nerve guidance conduit integrated with wireless electrical stimulation through alternating magnetic fields, which induces currents and creates a supportive microenvironment for nerve regeneration. In vivo studies show that this approach significantly enhanced myelin restoration, gastrocnemius muscle regeneration ...

Coulomb interaction rules timescales in potassium ion channel tunneling [PDF]
Assuming that the selectivity filter of KcsA potassium ion channel may exhibit quantum coherence, we extend a previous model by Vaziri and Plenio (2010) to take into account Coulomb repulsion between potassium ions. We show that typical ion transit timescales are determined by this interaction, which imposes optimal input/output parameter ranges. Also,

Potassium silicate-zinc oxide solution for metal finishes [PDF]
Examples of zinc dust formulations, which are not subject to cracking or crazing, are fire retardant, and have high adhesive qualities, are listed. The potassium silicate in these formulations has mol ratios of dissolved silica potassium oxide in the ...

A metastable high‐vacancy concentration layered P3‐type Na0.5Cr0.5Ti0.5O2 negative electrode material has been synthesized from its K analogues P3‐type K0.5Cr0.5Ti0.5O2 using a facile room temperature ion‐exchange method. The P3‐type Na0.5Cr0.5Ti0.5O2 demonstrates a gravimetric capacity of 125 mA h g−1 and high‐rate performance (80% charging in 3 min ...
