Efficacy of Two-phase Treatment Regimen for Rhino-facial Entomophthoromycosis: Our Experience and Review of Literature

open access: yesOman Medical Journal, 2022
This paper reviews our institutional experience in the management of rhino-facial entomophthoromycosis, a rare subcutaneous fungal infection. We adopt a fixed two-phase protocol comprising an initial ‘intensive phase’ (two-drug regimen) followed by an ...

Formation of iodinated disinfection by-products during oxidation of iodide-containing water with potassium permanganate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
[[abstract]]This study shows that iodinated disinfection by-products (I-DBPs) including iodoform (IF), iodoacetic acid (IAA) and triiodoacetic acid (TIAA) can be produced when iodide-containing waters are in contact with potassium permanganate.

Biomimetic Ru‐Mn Nanozyme with Cascade Catalytic Activity Attenuates Secondary Brain Injury in Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ru–Mn composite nanozymes are engineered to mimic dual‐enzyme cascade catalysis, enabling efficient ROS clearance and neuroinflammation suppression. In collagenase‐ and autologous blood‐induced ICH mouse models, intranasal and intravenous administration reduced hematoma volume, preserved BBB integrity, and improved neurological recovery.

THE EFFECT OF POTASSIUM IODIDE, SODIUM IODIDE, AND IOD-ETHAMINE UPON THE CONCENTRATION OF ALCOHOL-SOLUBLE AND ALCOHOL-INSOLUBLE FRACTIONS OF BLOOD IODINE [PDF]

open access: yes, 1945
Potassium iodide, sodium iodide, and Iod-Ethamine were given by stomach tube to 54 rabbits and the concentration of alcohol-soluble and -insoluble blood iodine followed for a period up to 24 hr.

Covalent Inhibition of SHMT2 by Gambogic Acid Induces Ferroptosis Through Mitochondrial Collapse in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, chemoproteomics combined with genetic and functional analyses was integrated to identify SHMT2 as a covalent and functional target of gambogic acid (GA) in triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC). Further validation demonstrated that GA selectively modifies the Cys241 site of SHMT2, triggering mitochondrial dysfunction, activating the Nrf2 ...

Potassium Iodide Catalyzed Synthesis of Mikanecic Acid Diesters from Baylis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Mikanecic acid diesters from Baylis-Hillman adducts, which on treatment with potassium Iodide led directly to the formation of Mikanecic acid diesters, through Diels-Alder type self-dimerization of 1,3-butadiene-2-carboxylate is reported using with ...

THE SITES OF TRANSFER OF SODIUM, POTASSIUM, AND IODIDE IN THE PAROTID DUCT SYSTEM OF THE DOG [PDF]

open access: yes, 1959
Rapid intra-arterial injections of radioactive iodide, sodium, and potassium have been made into the carotid artery while the parotid gland was secreting saliva at a steady rate.
