Potassium nitrate and nitrosamine formation

Nutrition and Cancer, 1983
The influence of potassium nitrate on the formation of nitrosamines in salami was studied. Samples of salami were prepared, with and without the addition of potassium nitrate. Under the conditions of the experiment, potassium nitrate did not represent a source of either nitrite or nitrosamines.

emf Studies of silver nitrate-potassium nitrate melts

Electrochimica Acta, 1992
Abstract The activity coefficients of silver nitrate in binary melts of AgNO3-KNO3 were determined by emf measurements in a formation cell consisting of a silver and a nitrate electrode, in a temperature range of 513-583 K and in the concentration range allowed by the melting point of the mixture.

Possibility of separating potassium and rubidium nitrates, and potassium and cesium nitrates, by zone melting in ammonium nitrate

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1971
The mutual effect of KNO3 and RbNO3, and of KNO3 and CsNO3, during the directed crystallization of NH4NO3 is not manifested on the values of the equilibrium distribution coefficients. The salts pairs: KNO3-RbNO3 and KNO3-CsNO3 can be separated by zone melting in ammonium nitrate.

A superior desensitizer—potassium nitrate

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1974
Potassium nitrate obtained favorable results when it was used as a desensitizing agent for tooth hypersensitivity. Potassium nitrate was used as a desensitizing agent for tooth hypersensitivity. Two forms of the potassium nitrate were prepared: one form used saturated solutions, or 15%, 10%, 5%, 2%, and 1% solutions; the other form was a paste that ...

The Ammonium Nitrate‐Potassium Nitrate System

Propellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, 1981
AbstractA portion of the binary phase diagram for the system ammonium nitrate‐potassium nitrate has been determined from − 55 °C to 185 °C. Results are presented for the ammonium‐nitrate‐rich end of the system up to 30 wt% potassium nitrate.

Nitrate, ammonium, and potassium sensing and signaling

Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 2010
Plants acquire numerous nutrients from the soil. In addition, nutrients elicit many physiological and morphological responses especially in roots. Recently, there has been significant progress in identifying the sensing and regulatory mechanisms of several essential nutrients.

Superstructure of α-phase potassium nitrate

Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 2003
The structure of potassium nitrate, KNO(3), has been redetermined at room temperature. The compound surprisingly shows a 2 x 2 x 1 superstructure and crystallizes in space group Cmc2(1). This result contrasts with that found in former investigations, which gave the supergroup Pmcn, neglecting the superstructure.

Potassium nitrate: An effective treatment for pulpitis

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1983
T he pulpitis induced by deep caries and exposure of the pulpal tissue to the microorganisms of the oral environment is currently treated by endodontic means or by removal of carious dentin and capping or sealing of the pulp so that the inflammation may be resolved and the pulp return to normal.‘~* Endodontic therapy is effective in restoring the ...
