The effect of lipoic acid administration on the urinary excretion of thiocyanate in rats exposed to potassium cyanide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The oxidation of cyanide (CN-) to a much less toxic thiocyanate (SCN-) is the main in vivo biochemical pathway for CN- detoxification. SCN- is excreted mainly in urine. This study was performed to investigate the effect of lipoic acid (LA) on the urinary

Push–Pull Ynamines and Push–Pull Ynamides: Synthesis, Structure, Reactivity, and Application

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 19, 22 May 2026.
Push–pull ynamines and push–pull ynamides, which carry an EWG and an amino or amido group as EDG, are highly interesting classes of EDG‐EWG alkynes that have been intensively studied due to their exceptional reactivity. In this review, the synthesis, structure, reactivity, and application of push–pull ynamines, push–pull ynecarbamates, push–pull ...

Probing the Biological Plausibility of Fluoride as an Endocrine Disruptor

open access: yesBirth Defects Research, Volume 118, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Fluoride has come under recent scrutiny regarding concerns over potential neurodevelopmental and endocrine‐related toxicities, with recent reviews by the National Toxicology Program (NTP) and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) concluding with moderate or reasonable confidence, respectively, that exposure to drinking water having ...

A Kinetic Investigation of a Carrier-Mediated Transport through a Bulk Liquid Membrane [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2006
The kinetics of the potassium thiocyanate transport mediated by dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 (L) through a bulk liquid membrane is studied experimentally and theoretically. The proposed model is based on the assumption of a pure diffusion of the complex salt [

Antimycobacterial Activity of Some Synthesized Fluorinated Benzothiazolo Imidazole Compounds

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2011
4-Fluoro-3-chloroanilline treated with potassium thiocyanate in presence of glacial acetic acid and bromine was converted into 2-amino-6-fluoro-7-chlorobenzothiazole, resulting into 2-amino benzothiazole.

Defect engineering for highly efficient and stable perovskite top cells for Si tandems

open access: yesBulletin of the Korean Chemical Society, Volume 47, Issue 5, Page 527-550, May 2026.
Defect passivation in wide‐bandgap perovskites is essential for enabling high‐efficiency and stable perovskite/Si tandem solar cells. Bulk, surface, and buried‐interface passivation strategies focus on suppressing nonradiative recombination, ion migration, and halide segregation, thereby clarifying critical design principles for next‐generation tandem ...

Antidiabetic and Cytotoxicity Studies of Novel Quinazolinone–1,3,4‐Thiadiazole Molecular Hybrids

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In the treatment of diabetes mellitus (DM), inhibition of carbohydrate‐hydrolysing enzymes, such as α‐amylase, has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy. In the present study, a series of quinazolinone‐1,3,4‐thiadiazole molecular hybrids were designed, synthesized and biologically evaluated for their antidiabetic potential.

Effect of Oil Content on Lipid and Protein Oxidation and Structural Changes During Storage of Soy‐Based Extrudates

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, Volume 128, Issue 5, May 2026.
The impact of storage on lipid and protein oxidation in soy‐based extrudates with varying oil contents was examined. Therefore, different oxidation markers were measured. In addition, the influence on the secondary structure and protein solubility was also investigated.
