Commodity risk assessment of Castanea sativa plants from the United Kingdom

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to prepare and deliver risk assessments for commodities listed in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/2019 as ‘High risk plants, plant products and other objects’. This Scientific Opinion covers plant health risks posed by graftwood, whips, bare root plants and potted ...

Actin Cytoskeleton and Golgi Involvement in Barley stripe mosaic virus Movement and Cell Wall Localization of Triple Gene Block Proteins. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Barley stripe mosaic virus (BSMV) induces massive actin filament thickening at the infection front of infected Nicotiana benthamiana leaves. To determine the mechanisms leading to actin remodeling, fluorescent protein fusions of the BSMV triple gene ...

RING‐Between‐RING‐Type E3 Ligase Ariadne‐Like Protein 8 Negatively Regulates Plant Virus Infection by Targeting a Viral Movement Protein

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 44, November 27, 2025.
The plant RING‐between‐RING (RBR)‐type E3 ligase, Ariadne‐like protein 8 (ARI8), ubiquitinates and degrades a viral movement protein, restricting virus spread. ARI8 also inhibits other triple gene block 1 (TGB1)‐containing viruses, revealing a broad‐spectrum antiviral role.

Cucurbit aphid‐borne yellows virus: A growing but overlooked threat to global cucurbit production

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 187, Issue 3, Page 318-329, November 2025.
Cucurbit aphid‐borne yellows virus (CABYV) presents a significant threat to cucurbit crops worldwide. In this description of a plant virus we review what is currently known about this plant virus. Abstract Cucurbit aphid‐borne yellows virus (CABYV) presents a significant threat to cucurbit crops worldwide.

Viruses occurring in potatoes (Solanum tuberosum) in Mbeya region, Tanzania [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Potato leaf roll virus (PLRV), Potato virus Y (PVY), Potato virus X (PVX), Potato virus S (PVS), Potato virus A (PVA), and Potato virus M (PVM) are widely distributed in potato (Solanum tuberosum) all over the world. This study was conducted to establish

Host-Dependent Requirement for the Potato leafroll virus 17-kDa Protein in Virus Movement

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2002
The requirement for the 17-kDa protein (P17) of Potato leafroll virus (PLRV) in virus movement was investigated in four plant species: potato (Solanum tuberosum), Physalis floridana, Nicotiana benthamiana, and N. clevelandii.

Better together: Subgenomes for allotetraploid potato wild relative Solanum acaule Bitt. reveal origins in Petota Clade 3 and 4

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 18, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract Potato wild relatives (Solanum section Petota) are a source of genetic diversity for climate‐smart improvement of modern cultivars (Solanum tuberosum). The allotetraploid Solanum acaule Bitter. has been previously used to introgress frost tolerance into potato cultivars such as Yukon Gold and Viking.

The Role of Bacterial Chaperones in the Circulative Transmission of Plant Viruses by Insect Vectors

open access: yesViruses, 2013
Persistent circulative transmission of plant viruses involves complex interactions between the transmitted virus and its insect vector. Several studies have shown that insect vector proteins are involved in the passage and the transmission of the virus ...
