Bactericera cockerelli (Ć ulc) is a common pest of solanaceous crops largely known for vectoring "psyllid yellows" in potatoes. In recent years, however, this pest has attracted considerable attention for vectoring Zebra Chip, a devastating bacterial disease that was first reported in the United States in 2004 and has spread across the southern and ...

Abstract. Zebra chip of potato, Solanum tuberosum L., is caused by the phytopathogen Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum (Lso) transmitted by the potato psyllid, Bactericera cockerelli Sulc. While the potato psyllid is native to the United States and northern Mexico, the Lso range has expanded north and south during the past 10 years.

Use and Cost of Insecticides to Control Potato Psyllids and Zebra Chip on Potatoes
Southwestern Entomologist, 2012Abstract. Zebra chip disease has become a serious problem in North America. Data from growers in Kansas, Nebraska, and Texas enabled us to document insecticide use and costs to control zebra chip in 53 commercial fields of potato, Solanum tuberosum L. The number of different insecticides used in Texas decreased from 16 in 2009 to 10 in 2011.

LADYBIRD BEETLES AS PREDATORS OF THE POTATO PSYLLID
The Canadian Entomologist, 1933During the spring of 1933, an adult convergent ladybird beetle, Hippodamia convergens Guerin, was placed in a 3-dram homeopathic vial with a number of nymphs of the potato psyllid, Paratrioza cockerelli (Sulc). The ladybird immediately grabbed a psyllid nymph and began to eat it.
