Development of Diagnostic Tools for the Seed Potato Industry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The Australian potato industry is threatened by inadequate measures to control the virus health of seed potatoes. Potatoes are vegetatively propagated; therefore infection can result in disease spreading through generations.

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Resistance to viruses of potato: current status and prospects

open access: yesВавиловский журнал генетики и селекции, 2017
The potato (Solanum tuberosum), one of the most important food crops in the world, is infected by various viruses, nine of which have great economic significance, causing substantial losses in the yield and quality of the crop.

One-step real-time multiplex reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction assay with melt curve analysis for detection of potato leafroll virus, potato virus S, potato virus X, and potato virus Y

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2021
Background Certification of seed potato as free of viruses is essential for stable potato production. Among more than 30 virus species infecting potato, potato leafroll virus (PLRV), potato virus S (PVS), potato virus X (PVX), and potato virus Y (PVY ...

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

Detection and sequencing of Potato virus Y (PVY) and Potato leafroll virus (PLRV) in a volunteer plant of Solanum tuberosum L. cv. Diacol-Capiro

open access: yesActa Agronómica, 2017
Viral diseases are among the most limiting factors in the production of potato in Colombia and the rest of the world. The best strategy to control plant viruses consists on the use of certified seed tubers, control of arthropod vectors and the use of ...

The pressure of Aphids (Aphididae, Hemiptera), vectors of potato viruses [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Biological Sciences, 2013
Plant viruses and aphids as their vectors, are limiting factors in the production of healthy seed potato. Potato Virus Y (PVY) and Potato Leafroll Virus (PLRV) are the two most significant potato viruses in Europe, and seed quality depends directly on

How is Nanoarchitectonics Shaping Extracellular Vesicle Research?

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The convergence of nanoarchitectonics and extracellular vesicle biology is reshaping next‐generation nanomedicine by enabling rationally designed nanostructures for enhanced EVs detection, engineering, and therapy. ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have gained recognition as crucial mediators of cell‐to‐cell communication, holding immense potential

The relationships of some viruses causing necrotic diseases of the potato

open access: yes, 1944
Potato virus B, and some other viruses with reactions in potato varieties different from any previously described, are strains of virus X. All produce intracellular inclusions which vary with different hosts and virus strains.

From Cell‐Derived Vesicles to Hybrid Nanovectors: Biological Membranes as Functional Blueprints for Gene Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Biologically derived and hybrid nonviral nanovectors are examined as distinct but convergent design approaches. Integrating synthetic components with biologically functionalized membranes allows efficient interactions with complex cellular environments.
