Energy-Smart Building Choices: How Parents and Teachers Are Helping to Create Better Environments for Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Most K-12 schools could save 25% of their energy costs by being smart about energy. Nationwide, the savings potential is $6 billion. While improving energy use in buildings and busses, schools are likely to create better places for teaching and learning,

PE-A* Algorithm for Ship Route Planning Based on Field Theory

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Route planning is the key to safe, efficient and intelligent navigation of maritime traffic. Autonomous route planning is a complex optimization problem, which requires both global route planning and local collision avoidance.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Static Stability Analysis of Planar Grasps by Multiple Fingers with Redundant Joints

open access: yesActuators
This paper deals with static stability in planar grasps of an object by multiple fingers. Differently from previous research, we focus on the case that each finger has redundant links and joints.

Study the Spectral Properties of the Molecule Trimethyl Aluminum (C3H9Al) by Semiempirical Quantum Programs [PDF]

open access: yesKirkuk Journal of Science, 2016
This study aims to determine the spectral properties of the trimethyl Aluminum molecule (C3H9Al) using the Semi-empirical quantum programs [HyperChem8.0, WinMopac7.21] by (MNDO-PM3) (Modified Neglect of Differential Overlap-Parameterization Model3). This

Thigh and Shank, Kinetic and Potential Energies during Gait Swing Phase in Healthy Adults and Stroke Survivors

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2022
Background/Problem. Given the treatment-resistant gait deficits after stroke and known elevated energy cost of gait after stroke, it is important to study the patterns of mechanical energies of the lower limb segments.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
