Generation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) by Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB)-Forming Phytoplankton and Their Potential Impact on Surrounding Living Organisms [PDF]
Most marine phytoplankton with relatively high ROS generation rates are categorized as harmful algal bloom (HAB)-forming species, among which Chattonella genera is the highest ROS-producing phytoplankton. In this review, we examined marine microalgae with ROS-producing activities, with focus on Chattonella genera.

Potential Harmful Effects of Carbamazepine on Aquatic Organisms, A Study Using Ants as Invertebrate Models [PDF]
One of the most common pharmaceutical substances present in natural water is carbamazepine, a drug given to persons suffering from epilepsies or pain in their cerebral nervous system, and eliminated intact by the kidneys through sewage systems into rivers. This substance may affect macroinvertebrates and vertebrates depending on watercourses.

Chattonella and Fibrocapsa (Raphidophyceae): First observation of, potentially harmful, red tide organisms in Dutch coastal waters [PDF]
Species of the potentially toxic and red-tide-forming marine-phytoplankton genera Chattonella and Fibrocapsa (Raphidophyceae) were observed for the first time in 1991 in samples taken in Dutch coastal waters; they were again recorded and enumerated in the following years. Chattonella spp.

Based on the developed method, the assessment of indicators of phytosanitary potential of risk management of productivity losses of feed agroecosystems as a result of the spread of harmful organisms (pests, pathogens and weeds) in feed agroecosystems in Russia was carried out. When determining the risks of productivity losses, data on areas, yields and

Integrated genome-scale prediction of detrimental mutations in transcription networks. [PDF]
A central challenge in genetics is to understand when and why mutations alter the phenotype of an organism. The consequences of gene inhibition have been systematically studied and can be predicted reasonably well across a genome.
