Prevention of Potential-Induced Degradation With Thin Ionomer Film

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Photovoltaics, 2015
Significant power loss has been observed in photovoltaic (PV) modules resulting from high voltage bias experienced in the field. This type of failure has been called potential-induced degradation (PID). Encapsulant materials provide protection and electrical isolation of the solar components in PV modules.

Filed Study on the Severity of Photovoltaic Potential Induced Degradation

open access: yes, 2022
Abstract Photovoltaic systems can be affected by different types of defects, faults, and mismatching conditions. In the last couple of years, the PV industry caught upon a severe problem in PV systems, so-called potential induced degradation (PID). The PID appears over time (months or even years); it may be undetectable at an early installation

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Modeling the electrical mismatch caused by potential-induced degradation in crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules and strings

open access: yesEPJ Photovoltaics
Potential-induced degradation (PID) can not only reduce the output power of a solar cell but also create additional power losses due to non-uniform degradation within a module, string or array, leading to mismatch in the electrical performance of the ...

The microbiome in human skin aging

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Modeling potential-induced degradation (PID) in crystalline silicon solar cells: from acceleratea-aging laboratory testing to outdoor prediction [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a mathematical model to predict the effect of potential-induced degradation (PID) on the power output of c-Si modules in different climates.

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Estrogen and progesterone regulate p27kip1 levels via the ubiquitin-proteasome system: pathogenic and therapeutic implications for endometrial cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
The levels of proteins that control the cell cycle are regulated by ubiquitin-mediated degradation via the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) by substrate-specific E3 ubiquitin ligases. The cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor, p27kip1 (p27), that blocks the

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

The Effect of Microcrack Length in Silicon Cells on the Potential Induced Degradation Behavior

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, 2018
The presence of microcracks may lead to loss in the module output power and safety hazard of the module. This paper investigated whether the existed microscopic microcracks in cells will facilitate the PID behavior.
