Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Modified Poisson Integral and Green Potential on a Half-Space

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
We discuss the behavior at infinity of modified Poisson integral and Green potential on a half-space of the n-dimensional Euclidean space, which generalizes the growth properties of analytic functions, harmonic functions and superharmonic functions.

Squashed, magnetized black holes in D = 5 minimal gauged supergravity

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We construct a new class of black hole solutions in five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory with a negative cosmological constant. These configurations are cohomogeneity-1, with two equal-magnitude angular momenta. In the generic case, they

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Global subsonic flow in a 3-D infinitely long curved nozzle

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2017
In this article, we focus on the existence and stability of a subsonic global solution in an infinitely long curved nozzle for the three-dimensional steady potential flow equation. By introducing some suitably weighted Holder spaces and establishing

Resolvent for Non-Self-Adjoint Differential Operator with Block-Triangular Operator Potential

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2016
A resolvent for a non-self-adjoint differential operator with a block-triangular operator potential, increasing at infinity, is constructed. Sufficient conditions under which the spectrum is real and discrete are obtained.

A note on dual gravitational charges

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
Dual gravitational charges have been recently computed from the Holst term in tetrad variables using covariant phase space methods. We highlight that they originate from an exact 3-form in the tetrad symplectic potential that has no analogue in metric ...

Infinity in mathematics

open access: yes, 2014
Nesta dissertação, abordaremos os dois tipos de infinitos existentes: o infinito potencial e o infinito actual. Apresentaremos algumas situações, exemplos que caracterizam cada um desses dois tipos.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

On Decentralized H-Infinity Optimal Positive Systems

open access: yes, 2023
This letter gives a closed-form expression for an H-infinity optimal controller with diagonal gain matrix. This phenomenon occurs for certain network systems with acyclic graphs, and potential applications include irrigation networks. Moreover, the above
