Potential Energy Surface of the Chromium Dimer Re-re-revisited with Multiconfigurational Perturbation Theory

open access: yes, 2016
The chromium dimer has long been a benchmark molecule to evaluate the performance of different computational methods ranging from density functional theory to wave function methods.

Positive solutions for systems of competitive fractional differential equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
Using potential theory arguments, we study the existence and boundary behavior of positive solutions in the space of weighted continuous functions, for the fractional differential system $$\displaylines{ D^{\alpha }u(x)+p(x)u^{a_1}(x)v^{b_1}(x) =0 ...

A Discrete Version of Local Hausdorff Dimension on Infinite Fractal Networks

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, we define the local Hausdorff dimension on fractal networks inspired by the idea of α-potential at a point x∈Rd. We prove some basic properties of the local Hausdorff dimension and then obtain the local Hausdorff dimension of some networks.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Harmonic Theory and Machine Learning

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science and Technology, 2007
A natural inference mechanism is presented : the Black Box problem is transformed into a Dirichlet's problem on the closed cube. Then it is solved in closed polynomial form, together with a Mean-Value theorem and a Maximum Principle.A generalization to ...
