THE WENNER POTENTIOMETER

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1932
A two-range, five-dial potentiometer is described which incorporates a decade construction suggested by Wenner. The upper range is 1.9111 volts in steps of 10 microvolts and the lower range is one tenth of this. The effect of contact resistance, thermal emf's and of errors in adjustment is considered in detail. The limit of error for the

Using linear potentiometers in place of sine/cosine potentiometers

Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control, 1984
Techniques are described that enable linear potentiometers to perform some of the functions which usually require sine/cosine potentiometers. The primary advantage is lower cost but, in some cases, the use of linear helical (multiturn) potentiometers also permits greater resolution. Applications of these techniques in phase shift circuits are discussed.

An Electronic Potentiometer

Proceedings of the IRE, 1942
A direct-current, degenerative, slide-back, vacuumtube voltmeter employing standard potentiometer design principles is described. The voltmeter is completely self-calibrated upon construction. By adjusting the voltmeter to the same reference balance condition for all voltage measurements, the grid current is readily reduced to less than 10-9ampere ...
