Females with externally visible but stenosed fecal orifice – low or high anorectal malformation

open access: yesJournal of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, 2017
We report four female children with externally visible but stenosed fecal orifice which proved to be a high anorectal malformation (Type IV pouch colon). They were managed by an abdominoperineal approach with excellent results.

Harnessing ferroptosis from multilayer defense networks to nanoplatforms for specific cancer therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Nanomaterials target metabolically‐regulated ferroptosis for cancer therapy. Iron‐based or alternative nanoplatforms integrate ferroptosis with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or radiotherapy. They enable stimulus‐responsive therapies (photothermal, photodynamic, sonodynamic) activated by near‐infrared, light, or ultrasound, achieving potent synergistic ...

Laparoscopic and natural orifice transluminal restorative proctocolectomy: no abdominal incision for specimen extraction or ileostomy

open access: yesVideosurgery and Other Miniinvasive Techniques, 2016
The aim of this study was to demonstrate the feasibility of laparoscopic restorative proctocolectomy (LRPC) without additional abdominal incisions. Two sisters with familial adenomatous polyposis were enrolled.

Micro‐ and nanoplastics in gastrointestinal disorders: Mapping the translational gap between exposure, biomonitoring, and pathogenic mechanisms

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This review highlights critical “translational gaps” in understanding micro‐ and nanoplastics impacts on gastrointestinal diseases, bridging exposure, detecting, and mechanistic toxicology. Abstract Micro‐ and nanoplastics (MNPs) have become pervasive environmental contaminants with increasing evidence linking them to adverse health outcomes.

A female patient with congenital pouch colon (cpc): A case report

open access: yes, 2011
Congenital short colon, more commonly known as pouch colon, is a rare anomaly that can be encountered with anorectal malformations (ARM). The colon is shorter than normal and the distal end is dilated like a pouch.

Long-Term Survival for Locally Advanced Adenosquamous Carcinoma Colon Cancer in Ulcerative Colitis: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncology
Introduction: Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) of the colon is an exceedingly rare and aggressive subtype, with limited data available on long-term survival, particularly among patients with ulcerative colitis (UC).

Beyond antimicrobials: Ecological nano‐strategies for rebalancing dysbiotic oral microbial homeostasis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Oral microbial homeostasis, a dynamic host‐microbe balance, is vital in infectious diseases. Conventional antibiotics often disrupt this homeostasis, spurring interest in nanomaterials for oral microbial homeostasis rebalancing. This review outlines nanomaterial strategies across three ecological levels (population/community, ecosystem, and cross ...
