Interactions between functional oligosaccharides and small intestinal cells are increasingly recognized as critical for maintaining intestinal health. Using xylooligosaccharides (XOS) as a model, we demonstrate that XOS promote growth in piglets primarily by enhancing nutrient transport and increasing villus height in the jejunum.

Abstract We study how risk preferences and risk perceptions relate to three risky food behaviors—eating unwashed greens, rare meat, and raw dough—among US adults. Using two self‐assessed measures of risk preference and an experimental measure, we find that increased risk aversion negatively correlates with risky food behaviors.

Tuberculous pericarditis is a common type of pericarditis, but it is difficult to be diagnosed.
