dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

This article reveals Ezra Pound’s deep, early engagements with the works of Lope de Vega. A young Pound studied Lope de Vega in graduate school and began a doctoral thesis on the gracioso figure in his plays, under the direction of famed lopista Hugo ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

A practical, covariant puncture for second-order self-force calculations
Accurately modeling an extreme-mass-ratio inspiral requires knowledge of the second-order gravitational self-force on the inspiraling small object. Recently, numerical puncture schemes have been formulated to calculate this force, and their essential ...

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Pacific herring, Clupea harengus pallasi, experimental roe-on-kelp open pound fishery studies in San Francisco Bay, December 1987 to February 1988 [PDF]
The experimental open pound herring roe-on-kelp (ROK) fishery was studied in San Francisco Bay from mid December 1987 to mid February 1988. Five different harvests were observed and sampled. A total of 19.7 tons of Macrocystis sp.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
