Crystal structure of (Z)-1-(ferrocenylethynyl)-10-(phenylimino)anthracen-9(10H)-one from synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2014
In the title compound, [Fe(C5H5)(C27H16NO)], designed and synthesized to explore a new electron-donor (D) and -acceptor (A) conjugated complex, the two cyclopentadienyl rings adopt an eclipsed conformation.

Natural Bone‐Derived Ceramic Scaffolds Functionalized with Chitosan‐Gold, Chitosan‐Magnesium, and Chitosan‐Zinc for Enhanced Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the development of antibacterial ceramic scaffolds derived from natural bovine bone. The bones were processed through sequential boiling and hydrogen peroxide treatment to remove organic matter, producing porous, mineral‐rich scaffolds.

Synthesis and characterisation of new layered oxychalcogenide materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Chapter one describes oxychalcogenide phases found in the literature with layered and three- dimensional structures. An attempt is made to systematise the structures of a range of materials to help understand their structural chemistry. Synthetic details

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Quantitative phase analysis of α-Fe impurity in Ce2Fe17 matrix from neutron powder diffraction data

open access: yes, 1993
The multicomponent Rietveld profile refinement technique for powder neutron diffraction patterns has been applied to arrive at a quantitative phase analysis of crystalline Ce2Fe17 and α-Fe impurity in a powder specimen of ...

Influence of Surface Finish on the Tribological Performance of AlTiBN Coatings Deposited on Forming Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

Precipitation Simulations of the O‐Phase in Ti2AlNb Alloys Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Simulated and experimental evolution of the O‐phase volume fraction during postprocessing of a Ti‐21Al‐25Nb (at.%) alloy processed by laser powder bed fusion. With results of sensitivity to input parameters from a thorough and quantified analysis, the interfacial energy matrix/precipitate is the most relevant input parameter for the simulation of the O‐

Grain size, size-distribution and dislocation structure from diffraction peak profile analysis

open access: yes, 2002
Diffraction peak profile analysis (or Line Profile Analysis, LPA) has recently been developed to such an extent that it can be applied as a powerful method for the characterization of microstructures of crystalline materials in terms of crystallite ...
