Micro-powder injection molding

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2002
Abstract Micro-system technology and related products will be used more widely in the new millennium. For their successful applications in various fields, e.g. in fluidic, medical, optical and telecommunications, economical mass production of the micro-components will be of great importance. Micro-powder injection molding (μPIM) reported in this work

Powder injection molding of pure titanium

Rare Metals, 2009
Abstract An improved wax‐based binder was developed for powder injection molding of pure titanium. A critical powder loading of 69 vol.% and a pseudo‐plastic flow behavior were obtained by the feedstock based on the binder. The injection molding, debinding, and sintering process were studied.

Powders for metal injection molding

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 1998
Metal injection molding (MIM) uses powders which differ considerably from the ceramics powders used for ceramic injection molding. Metal powders are hardly available in the sub-micron ranges that are almost standard in ceramics. The reason for this lies in the ductility and reactivity of the metals which make it difficult and very expensive to produce ...

Powder Injection Molding of Niobium

Materials Science Forum, 2005
Niobium and niobium-based alloys are used in a variety of high temperature applications ranging from light bulbs to rocket engines. Niobium has excellent formability and the lowest specific weight among refractory metals (Nb, Ta, Mo, W, and Re). Powder injection molding of niobium powder was investigated for efficiency of the process.

Overview of powder injection molding

Advanced Performance Materials, 1996
Powder injection molding is a near net-shape technique suitable for the production of moderate to large volumes of small complex components of a wide range of materials such as ceramics, metals and hard metals. It combines the plastics injection molding technique with the power sintering techniques to produce high density parts at close tolerances. The
