New Die-Compaction Equations for Powders as a Result of Known Equations Correction: Part 1–Review and Analysis of Various Die-Compaction Equations

open access: yesPowders
The well-known equations for the powder compaction process (PCP) in a rigid die published from the beginning of the last century until today were considered in this review.

Preparation of lanthanum zirconate nano-powders by Molten Salts method

open access: yes, 2010
Pyrochlore La(2)Zr(2)O(7) nano-powders with cubic structure have been firstly prepared by Molten Salts method. These nano-powders were prepared at a relatively low temperature using La(NO(3))(3)center dot 6H(2)O and ZrOCl(2)center dot 8H(2)O as raw ...

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Diborides of Multielement Transition Metals: Methods for Calculating Physical and Mechanical Characteristics

open access: yesPowders
From the first principles simulation (using the method of “a priori pseudopotential” and the “quasi-harmonic approximation” method- author’s developments), the basic characteristics of diborides and diborides of multielement transition metals (DMTMs ...

Hydrothermal synthesis of pure and Dy : BaTiO3 powders at 90 degrees C and their sintering behavior

open access: yes, 1998
Sub-micron (150-200 nm), monodisperse and spherical powders of pure and Dy-doped (0.8 at%) BaTiO3 have been prepared by "hydrothermal synthesis" at 90 degrees C in an air atmosphere.

Development and evaluation of the powders mix low alloyed steel + SIC for selective laser melting

open access: yes, 2022
reservedFor this work, the evaluation of the S2 tool steel + Silicon carbide (SiC) powders was provided in terms of the microstructural characterization after a thermal cycle and of the rheological properties of the mixtures. SiC powder was added at 5%,

Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

A Review of the Homogenized Lattice Boltzmann Method for Particulate Flow Simulations: From Fundamentals to Applications

open access: yesPowders
The homogenized lattice Boltzmann method (HLBM) has emerged as a flexible computational framework for studying particulate flows, providing a monolithic approach to modeling pure fluid flows and flows through porous media, including moving solid and ...

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
