Morphology–Coordination Coupling of Fe–TCPP and g-C3N4 Nanotubes for Enhanced ROS Generation and Visible-Light Photocatalysis

open access: yesNanomaterials
Fe–porphyrin/g-C3N4 composites have emerged as promising visible-light photocatalysts, but their performance remains limited by inefficient charge separation and low reactive oxygen species (ROS) yield.

Co-grinding significance for calcium carbonate–calcium phosphate mixed cement. Part I: effect of particle size and mixing on solid phase reactivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In part I of this study we aim to evaluate and control the characteristics of the powders constituting the solid phase of a vaterite CaCO3–dicalcium phosphate dihydrate cement using a co-grinding process and to determine their impact on cement setting ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Influence of gas type on microstructure and characteristics of super duplex stainless steel alloy powders prepared via gas atomization

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Conventional powder preparation methods, such as ball milling, often fail to produce fine, uniform, and spherical metal powders, limiting their suitability for advanced powder metallurgy (PM) and additive manufacturing (AM) applications.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Mechanical and tribological properties of Fe/Cr-FeAl2O4-Al2O3 nano/micro hybrid composites prepared by Spark Plasma Sintering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Fe/Cr–Al2O3 nanocomposite powders are prepared by H2 selective reduction of oxide solid solutions. These powders, an alumina powder and a starting oxide powder, are sintered by spark plasma sintering.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.
