Spreading dynamics of power-law fluid droplets
Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2009This paper aims at providing a summary of the theoretical models available for non-Newtonian fluid spreading dynamics. Experimental findings and model predictions for a Newtonian fluid spreading test are briefly reviewed. Then how the complete wetting and partial wetting power-law fluids spread over a solid substrate is examined. The possible extension

Enhanced Electro-Osmotic Flow of Power-Law Fluids in Hydrophilic Patterned Nanochannel
, 2020In this paper, electro-osmotic flow (EOF) enhancement of non-Newtonian power-law fluids in a modulated nanochannel with polarized wall is proposed. The channel walls are embedded with periodically arranged rectangular grooves, placed vertically with ...

POWER-LAW FLUIDS IN POROUS MEDIA
Chemical Engineering Communications, 1987An analysis is presented to describe the parallel flow of power-law fluids within a channel bounded by porous media. It is shown that there is an excess flow above the Darcy's law prediction for the porous medium region adjacent to the channel/ porous medium boundary. This also leads to a higher flow rate in the channel.

Pressure drop reduction of power-law fluids in hydrophobic microgrooved channels
The Physics of Fluids, 2019Using hydrophobic surfaces is one of the efficient methods to preserve energy in fluid transfer systems. However, the studies have been concentrated on Newtonian fluids despite the wide applications of non-Newtonian fluids in daily life and many ...

Turbulent Flow of Power-Law Fluids
Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1975Velocity profiles for the steady incompressible turbulent flow of power-law fluids through circular conduits were calculated by numerical quadrature considering both the viscous stresses and the Reynolds' stresses operative over the entire cross section of the flow. A non-Newtonian stress coeffiecient, K sub Sn, was introduced along with mixing length,

Entrance effects for power‐law fluid
Polymer Engineering & Science, 1994AbstractEntrance pressure losses for the creeping flow of a power‐law fluid are calculated for an abrupt contraction of ratio 2, 4, 8 and ∞ for both the axisymmetric and planar cases using P2P1 and PP1 finite elements. Contrary to some earlier findings in the literature, the entrance pressure loss obtained by using the two different types of finite ...

Natural convection in power-law fluids
International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 1986Abstract In the case of natural convection to power-law fluids of high Prandtl number it is shown that the appropriate dimensionless parameters are the generalized Rayleigh number and the power-law index n. Such a presentation brings out more clearly the influence of n on the Nusselt number and facilitates comparison of experimental and analytical ...

Peristaltic Transport of Two-Layered Power-Law Fluids
Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 1997Peristaltic transport of two-layered power-law fluids in axisymmetric tubes is studied. Use of the power-law fluid model permits independent choice of shear thinning, shear thickening, or Newtonian fluids for the core and the peripheral layer. The interface between the two layers is determined from a transcendental equation in the core radius.
