Measuring a Priori Voting Power in Liquid Democracy

Proceedings of the Thirty-Second International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2023
We introduce new power indices to measure the a priori voting power of voters in liquid democracy elections where an underlying network restricts delegations. We argue that our power indices are natural extensions of the standard Penrose-Banzhaf index in simple voting games. We show that computing the criticality of a voter is #P-hard even in weighted

The thermoelectric power of liquid alloys

Physics Letters A, 1968
Abstract The thermopower of five equivalence liquid alloys has been determined. The alloys were chosen such that the atomic volume remains essentially independent of composition, because for these systems, the Ziman (pseudopotential) theory of electron transport enables a connection to be established between the thermopower of the alloy and that of ...

Thermoelectric power of liquid copper

Solid State Communications, 1987
Abstract Measurements of the absolute thermopower S of liquid copper are reported. It is found that it decreases with temperature, as a simple linear relationship, and that the high positive value of S is related to the strong energy dependence of the structure factor, near 2 K F .

Electrostatically Powered Multimode Liquid Crystalline Elastomer Actuators

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2023
Soft actuators based on liquid crystalline elastomers (LCEs) are captivating significant interest because of their unique properties combining the programmable liquid crystalline molecular order and elasticity of polymeric materials. For practical applications, the ability to perform multimodal shape changes in a single LCE actuator at a subsecond ...

The absolute thermoelectric power of liquid metals

Physics Letters, 1966
Abstract The results of new measurements of the absolute thermoelectric power of ten liquid metals are reported. These measurements extend up to 1000°K for most metals and include Al and Tl, for which there seems to be no other published data.
